It's my party & I'll cry if I want to

I decided today would be a good day to put down mulch around the house. It wasn't suppose to be as hot & humid. I invited everyone I knew to the "putting down mulch" party. I was waiting on pins & needles to see who was going to show, but sadly, no one was "available". It hurt a little, but I knew that crying in the mulch wasn't going to get it spread any faster. So I forged ahead...alone.

Brad didn't like the fact that I wanted to park the truck in the yard. I told him that was fine - if he wanted to stay home & help, he could haul the full wheel barrel up the hill a gazillion times. He left to put down nitrogen... & I parked in the yard. Oh yeah, the Michael Jackson mask was in full effect! That thing makes my face sweat & then my sunglasses steam up. I told Brad to find smaller ones 'cuz while I DO have a big mouth, my face isn't that big...
The cats decided to check things out. They walked around the edge & on top of the truck.
Who knew the top of the truck was a comfy spot to lay down? And then I was all like, "ok, guys, if you're just gonna lay around on the truck, you're gonna get a pitch fork & help me."
They take after their daddy & decided they didn't want to help, either. So they laid on the porch instead.
After they got all rested up, the decided to have a throw-down.
DEAD ANIMAL ALERT!!!
My babies are so good to me. As I was putting down the mulch, they brought me a present. A dead mouse kinda present. EEWWW!!
So I finished the first truck load of mulch & had to go back & get more. This was all by 10:00 in the morning. I was feeling sad because no one came to my party... & since one really IS the loneliest number, I called my 59 year 9 month old mother to help me.
After we finished the 2nd load of mulch, we decided to break out my fountain. I've decided that the fountain should really not be put out w/out Brad's supervision. I'm WAY too impatient to do it the "right" way.
It's a-ma-zing how much better everything looks w/ a fresh layer of mulch!

On a side note - I heart Sunflowers. But I'm not allowed to plant any around the house because Brad says, "They're worse than Johnson Grass (which is a nuissance weed they get in the fields) to get rid of." To that I say, "Yeah, but they're prettier! :)" So I've lost that battle & I don't have sunflowers. But what I DO have is mini-sunflowers! I bought 2 when I bought the rest of my flowers. They're blooming now!
Thanks again to my mommy for helping me w/ the mulch. I didn't want to ask her because she's leaving to go to North Carolina tomorrow & I didn't want her to be tired & sore. But I'm selfish & asked anyway & she said, "I have all night to rest up & be ready to go." Awe-that's a mom for ya! Also-she won't be home to fix me lunch next week. I'll be eating turkey sandwiches. I told her she better have something good for me when she comes back. :)
