Be careful what you wish for

Sometimes I just don't think we are doing anything blog worthy.  You know, go to work, come home, take a nap, make supper, watch tv.... it's all very exciting....  However, you stalkers love even the tiniest bit of silliness in my life.  Because you ASK for it, you shall receive.  God be with you.  (I have no clue why that's highlighted in white...)

I am getting excited about leaving for Texas in a couple of weeks to go to National Rally.  It will be a great time with my jeweler friends, we will get great trainings & who could forget the new jewelry?  Be still my heart.
I was having anxiety about shoes I needed to go with my Red Dress.  You know I really don't like to shop when I HAVE to so this was becoming a problem.  My friend Rose told me about endless.com.  It's a division of Amazon.com & they sell all kinds of cute shoes.
I narrowed my choices down to these 3.  I'm not really a heels girl either.  I would hate to fall & break my neck in front of Andy & Tim Horner.  I emailed these choices to Rose & she said either the ones on the left or the ones on the right.  I wasn't reel keen on that strap around my ankle so I chose the ones on the left.
They have 2 day free shipping so I got them right away.  They have a small, larger heel so it's no problem for my limited walking abilities.  I cooked supper in them one night to break them in.
B-rad said, "Did you really fix supper in those?"  Uhm, yea I did...
I'm sure you've all seen those pics people put on facebook & pinterest of funny sayings, quotes, etc.  B-rad finds a lot of those things on an app he has called 'ifunny'.  Then he sends them to me with his own commentary.  This one said, "Remind you of anyone?"  I responded, "Nope."
He said this one reminded him of me.  I replied, "I don't know if I should be offended or flattered?"
This one needs no explanation... I replied, "HAHAHAHAHAHA yup..."
I've had some toe ring drama too.  I got my toes rings like forever ago (years... I'm talking 6-7 years) & I never take them off.  Never.  They sleep with me.  They shower with me.  They go under socks in the winter with me.  (Girls this does NOT apply to your Premier gems.  Those come off as soon as I get home!)   The one on my right foot had daisies on it & I loved it, but the daisies were only on a certain area & the rest was plain...so it was annoying to me that it was constantly turning & the daises were facing the floor.  I got the brilliant idea to get new ones.  Have I mentioned how much I love the internet?  I went on toerings.com & found some super cute rings.

But here's another story...when the chick forced my daisy toe ring on, I told her it was too tight.  She insisted I was crazy & sent me on my way.  I kept complaining it was really tight & then I got used to it.  If you aren't familiar - toe rings fit differently than regular rings.  The pad of your toe is usually larger than the knuckle part so you are encouraged to use soap or something to get the ring off over your pad.  UHM, when I lathered up my toe to get the daisy ring off - it wouldn't come off.  I tried & tried & it didn't work.  Thankfully I have a resourceful hubby who I knew could help me.  I texted him & said, "Do you have anything at home that can cut off my toe ring?"  He said, "Sure.  A torch..."  He.is.hilarious.

One of the 2 new rings came in.  The other one is just a plain band with little crystals & it's backordered so I have to wait for it.  Sigh.
Oh, my nails!  So remember when I was doing the press on nails?  Well, that got annoying because they would pop off & I felt ghetto re-gluing them back on.  One day I was super pissed off at work & had had it with everything & everybody & I just decided, "I'M GOING TO GET MY NAILS DONE!"  Random...I know...
I've been keeping up with the fill-ins every other week (which is also annoying) but I really do feel better when I have them done.  They look pretty & make me feel pretty'ier'

Most the time I just get french tips but this time I was going to do color.  And the little dude said, "whole nail or just tip?"  (you can barely understand them...) I said, "Whole nail."  He said, "Sure?"  I'm like, "I don't know?"  He said, "Tip looks better.  Too much color".  Ok nail dude- you know best...Not sure how I feel about them...it's definitely different.
And I'll be damned if the very next day I chipped one.  I don't even know what I did but I looked down & had a black scuff mark & some of the paint chipped off.  Very irritating...
And last, but most definitely not least... I'm gonna talk about a purse.  You know my love of purses.  I need them.... I crave them... They're my crack.  However, crack kills & I've been having trouble with my shoulder aching.  I know it's from years of carrying a purse stuffed with too much stuff.  I started carrying a wristlet (or 2...) that I own a few weekends ago & I really liked it.  It was uber weird not having all my crap with me, but also liberating.  Shauna liked mine & wanted to get one like it.  We searched high & low online but couldn't find what I had.  So we went shopping.  (Shopping for purses or the like does not count in the hate shopping category.)  We went to Penney's where I had bought mine but couldn't find one so we ventured to Dillard's.  And do ya'll know what's at Dillards?  Coach.  Tear.

We found super cute wristlets for a not so cute price.  (Mind you I didn't need one, I had my perfectly good wristlet already...duh...).  We left to look at Hallmark but the Coach wristlet was calling my name.
And I came out with this.  I'm a mess.
I really do love it.  It has a nice big zipper pocket on the backside & my cell phone fits in it perfectly.  It's been a little strange not having all my crap with me but my shoulder appreciates it.  And listen to this - B-rad sent me a link that the Ebay Coach outlet was having a big sale.  I logged in, looked around, didn't see anything I wanted & logged out.  Could this be the beginning of the end for me?  Shudder...

Our first weekend at the lake

Last weekend was our first weekend going to the lake this summer.  Since B-rad's parents weren't home to celebrate mine or Brian's birthdays, she decided to do it this weekend.
Ok...I've got no problem with desserts...

It was Cole's job to decorate our brownie cake.
He took great care in deciding just which letters he needed to extricate from their cardboard backing.
He also wanted to be sure that none of those letters were going to fall off the cake.
He made sure to push them waaaaay far down into the icing.  (Also notice the icing finger print on that 'h'?  Oy vay...)
He was able to get two 'happy's but only one 'birthday' out of those letters.
I asked him, "Now what?"
He said, "Your names?"
I said, "Well-there's not enough letters for both our names.
Lets put our ages!!!!  Your dad is 41...&me?  Well, I am 26...."
That's what the cake says, people...it must be true...
I have mixed feelings about the lake.  I don't like being away from home.  I like my couch.  I like my tv.  I like my bed.  But I do like the relaxed atmosphere of doing absolutely nothing at the lake.  I'm up at 7 am at my house on the weekends, but I didn't wake up until 1030 am on the houseboat.  Me likes that...

Unless you pay NO attention at all, you all should know that superstar blogger, Alicia UHM McAfee, is related to us.  She & I grew up together, blah, blah, blah & then she married B-rad's cousin, Daniel & voila - we're family.  So here's how it works:  Daniel's dad & B-rad's dad are brothers.
Alicia's in-laws (Daniel's parents....B-rad's aunt & uncle...are you getting all this?) came down to the lake as well in their boat.  Notice the complete relaxation here?
Barry on the left is Daniel's dad, Stanley on the right is B-rad's dad.
One important thing that keeps me going to the lake is Ann's cooking.  I mean, look at that yummy food.  And I didn't have to lift one.single.finger.  That's heaven.
Notice Ann slaving away over the grill while B-rad & Brady chat about Mustangs?
We took the houseboat onto the lake & hung out here for a few hours.
That's right...be jealous...
be very, very jealous.
Right before the birthday party started, Brady took over as chief photographer.  I will spare you from a LOT of the photos he took.  However, who am I to spare you of this pretty gal right here?
Notice everyone look over & smiling/laughing?
Uhm, yea - this guy right here.  Well, uh, he was just a little, teeny, tiny bit intoxicated.  And he was taking video of the par-tay on his phone.  Complete with commentary...very loud commentary...
Stan & Ann got a new houseboat last year & it has a nice place on the top to hang out.  It has what is called a 'party top' so you're still under shade when you're up there.
Stanley put on these cool rope lights.  I love 'em.  It even has a ceiling fan.
B-rad's mom does NOT rough it.  And I like that...
The top is also nice because there are so many of us, some can be up top, some can be out back, some can be out front & we're not all getting on my nerves in the same place.
Even out in the middle of the lake, we do NOT do without our devices.
We brought the boat back in for the night & Brady was fishing for 1.3 seconds & caught this huge fish.  Now-I don't really care about fish.  I don't care when people catch them.  I just come running because:
A) that's just what people do when someone catches a big fish
B) I wanted a pic for the blog.
See his entourage?  I told ya big fish are a big deal...

What was I thinking?

Last weekend during B-rad's ill-fated trip to Deal's Gap, Shauna & I had made plans to do a girls trip for a day or two.  However, her mom came into town so our plans got nixed.  I had already taken the day off work Friday & I was sooooo looking forward to it.  When Shauna backed out, I still really, really wanted my day off work.  And you know me, making lemonade outta lemons I came up with another plan.

I asked Alicia if her & the kids would be able to meet up for lunch on Friday.  I was going to go see Snow White & the Huntsman at the movies by my pathetic self.  Sigh...

Alicia & I had made plans for lunch & then Denise wrote her a message on Facebook about Madagascar 3.  Well, uhm, I hated for Alicia to have to decide between me & Denise, so I invited myself along tried to make that decision easy on her by allowing her to do both.  I'm a good friend.

We all met up at Chick-fil-a & God help me, this place was ca-razy!   The kids (even ones that didn't belong to the people I was with) were running around like tiny maniacs playing in the play room thingie.
And of course, NO lunch is complete without a picture of the kids not paying attention, not wanting to eat & not wanting to smile before they ate.
As soon as we arrived at the movies, the kids bum rushed the candy counter.   Lets be honest, we all knew my post about the afternoon would be very different from their's, but it was THIS moment when it hit me like a ton of bricks...
While their mommies were avoiding the arcade getting tickets, snacks & drinks, I walked into the arcade to make sure no one tried to kidnap them.  Alas, I am a sucker when they asked me for money.  Eh, it's ok though because I don't get asked that question 9 billion times a day.  If I did, I'm all about the tough love & would tell them to forget it!
Grace tried to get a stuffed animal.  Anybody wanna guess how THAT turned out?
Jake played a shooting game that required me to hold him up so he could even aim at the screen!
Gabe & Sam played a shooting game as well.
After the money ran out, the mommies beckoned their children to 'COME ON!' & out of the arcade we went.  But what did my little eyes see in the lobby?  Yes, please....
This is the point where I got super pissed at B-rad because he took my point & click & all I had to rely on was my super cool iPhone.  What you can't hardly see in this pic is a dance of the bumblebees like I've never seen before.  I noticed a frenzied rush for seats.  Being the smart chick I am - I walked a row behind the frenzy & watched it all unfold...

This kid wants to sit here, then that kid wants to sit by another other kid.  Once all the kids got their perfect seating arrangement complete, the mommies had to pass out snacks & drinks.  Madness, I tell ya.
The mommies were finally able to sit down & get a pic with ME!  Sheesh!
See how they love me?  They had to sit on either side of me.  (I get that a lot...I'm used to it...)
The kids were VERY sweet & kept passing me gummy candies.  I'm sure it was pay back for cash I passed out earlier...
Most of you stalkers know Alicia & her uncanny ability to sleep any.freaking.where.  Well, she fell asleep...during the movie... So Denise totally put me up to this & I'm SOOO glad she did.  I was worried that someone may get pissed because I turned on my flash.  Her response, "Who cares?"   Love it!
I'm very lucky that my friends are good sports about me not wanting kids of my own & being weirded out by all the kid related stuff that goes on.

Some of my favorite lines of the day:
Jaime:  "Thanks for letting me come.  I love these Madagascar movies but I can't very well come see them by myself...people will think I'm a pedophile!"
Alicia:  While pointing at my head... "PEDOPHILE!  THERE'S A PEDOPHILE RIGHT HERE!"

Jake to Alicia:  "Mommy, I wanna sit on your lap!"
Jaime:  "Sucker."
Denise:  "Awwwww... jealous!"

Denise: "Grace, I'm going to the bathroom.  Would you like to come?"
Grace:  "No."
Denise:  "She'll have to go in 15 minutes.  Mark your watches, girls."

Denise:  "I really want you to experience the full effect of movies with kids.  'Jaime, I'm done with my drink.  Jaime, I'm done with my popcorn. Jaime, I dropped my drink'..."

Alicia:  While Jake is still on her lap.... "Be still buddy.  Mommy is trying to nap."
Pitiful...
Thanks again girls for letting me hang out.  Best.birth.control.ever.

This weekend has NOT gone as I expected

So B-rad left town on Thursday morning to go to North Carolina to ride his motorcycle on a super important curvy road with his buddies. I had big, BIG plans of doing absolutely nothing alllll weekend.

I took off work Friday & did a few things (that I will blog about eventually...). I got home around 630 & was prepared for an evening of riveting tv watching. And then that all changed...

I don't want to go into too many details to respect others' privacy. We all know I have no shame, but not everyone is like me.

One of B-rads buddies crashed...bad. Cell phone service there is non-existent so it was extremely difficult to get information. The buddy was taken to the hospital by ambulance. Long story short, the buddy got discharged from the hospital in Tennessee... B-rad headed north & his wife & I started heading south to get him home to see a surgeon here. We left at midnight last night & picked him up around 330am in Knoxville. B-rad headed back south (he had 2 other guys that went with him on the trip) & we headed back north. We got him to the hospital around 8am. She took me back to my car after he was admitted & I got home around 1030 this morning.

If you've lost track-I was up for 28 hours. Pahhh. Y'all know how I like my sleep. The drive between 5am & 7 am was the hardest. I came home & ate some breakfast & went to bed. I was able to sleep for about 6 hours & now I'm talking to you. B-rad & his buddies cut the trip short & are on their way home now. He should be home sometime after midnight. I know he is mentally & physically exhausted as he was right was behind his buddy & had a front row seat to the crash.

Now-let's talk about the elephant in the room. Everyone has their opinions of motorcycles...even me. (and my opinions will probably surprise you.) B-rad & his buddies wear gear from head to toe. His buddies injuries are considerably minor considering the accident.

I have not forgotten about your questions on the farm. Promise.

Please say a prayer for our friend & his family. He's going to have a long recovery. Thank you.

A glimpse into my handbag

This installment of the blog off is about what's in our handbags.  A subject close to my heart.  It's no secret that I LOVE LOVE LOVE purses.  With alllll my heart.  Sigh.

This is the purse I'm currently (I say currently because it could change at a moments notice...) carrying... tre' chic right now with the faux crocodile print.
UHM - bought this at Walmart...for 12 whole bucks.  S.C.O.R.E.
This is all the stuff that's inside that purse...
Lets break it down, shall we?!
4 different tube of lip 'stuff'.  Overkill?  Perhaps.  I don't wanna be caught with dry lips.  The 2 on the right are open & currently in use.  I use the lip gloss when I wanna be a little bit sassy & have some shine on the ole' lips.  The blue one...has not been opened yet... it's there just in case.
I'm really bad about throwing receipts & stuff into my purse & then eventually I get around to cleaning it out.  I just got a new Kohl's card that I need to activate...just haven't had time.  Notice the 3 Kohl's receipts?  I'm sure that helped me obtain my new 'gold card' status.
There's a necklace in a bag.  I was going to wear it one day...but didn't...haven't taken it out of the purse...that was 1 week ago.  Purple wallet that I bought about a year AFTER I bought the purse...at Target.  (Go figure.)  Eye drops, hair thingie, business card holder & pink pens with my name on them.
 Couple of mini catalogs...
And, uhm, yea - my iPad.  YES, I carry my iPad everywhere with me.  YES, it's in a purple case.  Shut up.
This little baggie with variations of purple stripes...
It holds advil in that little red thing, a compact, hand sanitzer, mints, another hair thingie & most importantly eyeliner!
 THIS thingie...
You know how you have all those stupid 'store' cards or frequent buyer cards?  All that crap won't fit in my wallet, so I put them in that little thingie.  It also holds my gift cards...because it NEVER fails that I go to those stores & I don't have them with me.
I am very particular about my purses.  They have to have certain criteria.  Is everybody like that? I like 2 straps, outside pocket(s), inside pocket, large enough to hold my iPad & the straps have to be long enough to hold on my bended elbow OR be able to throw it over my shoulder.  I also NEVER zip my purse if it has a zipper.  I like to be able to access whatever is inside quickly.   I don't have a 'certain spot' for anything in it... it all just gets thrown in...thus the big pile of crap you saw above...
