Bling for my porch

I went to Hardinsburg today to buy some flowers for the house. In past years, I have spent hundreds of dollars. On flowers. That die. I have come to realize this is madness. So I don't do it anymore. (plus watering them every night is a bitch!)

I spent $60 total on all the flowers for all my baskets. I don't think that's TOO bad. (BTW-this is not ALL The flowers I bought...there's another box full next to it...)

Obviously once they're planted for awhile, these wave petunias will hang down & look cute. I got white this year so the color pops in spite of my humongous red rose bushes!

I also don't buy the "pre-made" baskets the greenhouses make. I buy all the different flowers & mix them myself. Quite thrifty of me! But I ran into trouble because I'm cheap. I try to re-use potting soil every year cuz that stuffs not cheap! The potting soil left over in the baskets from last year was like dust. It was dried out & not a condusive environment to grow pretty flowers. So I was only able to get the 2 baskets for the front of the porch & the mixed basket for the steps done. (But I called my mommy & she's gonna get me some more potting soil on the way home from church tomorrow...)

Also, please check out the little concrete "flower" @ the bottom right corner. I made that. I'm so proud! It says "The McAfee's".

By the way-I thought I'd share something else w/ ya. There's a dog that belongs to one of our neighbors. She comes & goes & of course I feed her. Don't judge me-I can't let the poor thing starve! A couple of years ago when she came up & I didn't know where she lived...I went to the vet & bought Frontline flea & tick stuff to put on her because she was covered in ticks! UGH! But this is how my life goes...I feed her & pet her & get ticks off her (gag!) & this is how she does me!

She's on my freakin' table. Really? Can that be comfy?!
