It's that time of the year when it gets so cold around here that just being outside can be detrimental to your health. And of course, I can't let my faithful & loyal steeds stay out there in the cold...
And I tell ya'll all the time I'm a giver - and this just proves my point. When it's below 32, I let them in the house...
Sparky laying on the couch...
and Sonny loves to lay on the bed.
I do make them sleep down in the basement (yes, there's heat down there - what do you think I am? An animal?) But I also give them blankets to lay on. I go down in the morning before I leave for work to give them fresh water & clean the litter box & feed them. Sonny tries not to make eye contact so I won't kick him out. Sonny would be perfectly happy all the time in the house - while Sparky is my wild child. He likes coming in the house - but he will also scratch at the door to go back outside.
And then they hope that maybe, just maybe - she's gonna let us into the promised land?! (That's where the bed & couches are... also known as "upstairs"...)
But alas, I tell them, "No, no guys. Mommy has to go to work & you have to stay in the basement so you don't become little black 4-legged popsicles..." And yes - I do talk to them like they totally understand what I'm saying. I even gave Sparky the option this morning to stay out or in. I let him go outside & sniff around & get a feel for the temperature. Then I said to him, "Ok, Sparky? What do you want to do? It's really cold out here... Out or in?!" And he came back in - I'm just sayin'...
