I hate to re-visit the past, but...

I'm totally drudging it up & getting all our raw emotions exposed again!
So the first blog-off was about "thank you notes". And it was a spirited discussion, to say the least. I really did enjoy reading other peoples views on the subject. It's so strange to me how so many different people can have so many different view on the exact same subject! But that's what makes life fun!
Now - on to the 're-visiting'... It was some peoples opinions that the thank you notes were stupid or pointless because of the money aspect. While, yes, this is a valid point - here's what dawned on me today. I went to buy someone a 'get well card'. Why aren't they stupid & pointless? Then I thought about birthday cards. Stupid & pointless as well?! To me, it's the thought that counts. And while I realize that the premise for get well & birthday cards is a tad different than a thank you note - it all goes back to the thought.
I'm sure the person I bought a get well card for will just throw it away. Why shouldn't they? That's ok with me. Because it's all about them knowing I simply thought enough of them to give them a card.
Please, let the comments commence...

but that was THOUGHTFUL!!! sorry but when someone sends out a thank you card to EVERYONE at a party, no matter how thoughtful you try to make it, everyone still gets one. it doesn't make you MORE thankful in any way. it's not like you just pick the presents you like most and send those people thank you cards. talk about pissing people off! ha!

HAHA, Alicia - now THAT would be something! Never knowing if you didn't get a note because your gift sucked?! Love it!
I guess my point kinda started because of the money aspect. But I still think that if you take the time to write out thank you notes to everyone, you are thinking of them individually & taking the time to acknowledge them.
I think thank you notes are going to have to go in the same category as politics & religion! We all agree to disagree, but still love each other! :)

Hey Jaime,

I am totally on your side when it comes to thank you notes (even before I started working with Hallmark again). My mom raised me that if someone does something nice for you, ie. a gift for a holiday, birthday, wedding, etc. or just helping someone out, you send a thank you note. You did take the time to attend the event/party; it's only right to thank those people (and sometimes you are not always able to do so in person). Blake's teachers' always appreciate a note any time of the year that include a little note of thanks and appreciation. I don't understand the issue with the cost because thank you notes in a pack are not that much and I think it's worth the 44 cent stamp versus hurting someones feelings for not sending one. That's my opinion and I'm sticking to it!! ha ha......
P.S. I would like to see a new Premier book when you get a chance. Thanks!!
