I'm crafty - kinda'

So my 15 year class reunion is this weekend. And even though I didn't care to go to my 5 or 10 year reunions, I've decided to go to this one. Since Facebook has brought me back in touch w/ some of my old friends, I don't feel as much anxiety just walking up to people I hadn't seen in 5 or 10 years. I even volunteered to help our class president get in touch w/ our classmates to let them know about the reunion.
The reunion is at O'Bannon Woods. But for those of you from around here, it's the Forestry. And I thought it might be nice to make a sign for the entrance to the shelter house so everyone knows where we are.
So I asked the only person I know who is as close to crafty as me - Nancy. (This statement is funny because Nancy does anything & everything. She's the queen of crafty. And I'm the total opposite of queen of crafty...jester of crafty perhaps?! I told her I was making a sign on posterboard & asked her the best way to go about it. Of course I thought I should use paint...I just wanted to see what she thought. (pause for crickets...)
I told her I wanted blue. Because the Fighting Cougars of North Harrison's colors are blue & white. So this is what she brings me. 4 choices of blue...and white if I decided any of the blues were too dark, I could put a drop or two in the blue to lighten it up. Man, she's thorough... I tried to write it out on newspaper first to get an idea of what I wanted to do. It looked ok. So I wrote it in pencil on the posterboard. And then I filled it in w/ paint. I am one of THE most impatient people you will ever meet. I know this. I accept it. It's just how I roll. This was my first attempt. I wanted block letters so you could see it. Then I screwed up the "o's" & the "a". Then I didn't leave enough room at the bottom for the "1994".
So I thought, "you know you don't have a crafty bone in your body. But since you have a high school education (at the great NHHS, nonetheless...), you can WRITE. So just write in paint!" And that's what I did. No drawing, no filling in blocks. Just writing.
Now I don't like to brag (more crickets), but I think it looks pretty dang good. I set it down & walked away & the letters are big enough to read from a distance. Ah, success. Next hurdle - figuring out how to "mount" it. I think we may have some old political sign wire frames around here somewhere. (I knew Dad's political career would come in handy for something other than getting me out of a speeding ticket...once...) I'll just staple the crappy first attempt posterboard to the back of the new awesome one & slip it over the frame. Voila!
