So remember how I told you we got the kids tickets to the Globetrotters for Christmas?! Well-it was Saturday night. We met the other McAfee's at Chick-fil-a for dinner because they had gotten tickets too! Great minds think alike! Our seats weren't together or anything - but we did manage to find them in the crowd & wave!
Waiting for the game to start. Derik, Brad, Brady & Cole
Yup, I was there too! We had great seats! We sat behind the Washington Generals & we were in the 4th row!
Maybe ONE good thing about having kids around? Child labor! I had Derik take this pic of me & B-rad.
Ok-let me set the scene for you. We went to eat first. You know, to deter any, "I'm hungry! Buy me a $10 hot dog!" Weeelll, it didn't work. Ok- it did for the older kids - just not Cole (he's 7...) "I'm hungry." "Cole - we JUST ate..." "Ok - I'm thirsty." "Sorry Cole, I don't have any money." That held him off for a little bit. "When's the game gonna start?!" " 10 minutes..." "NOW when's the game gonna start?!" "10 minutes..." "NOW when's the game gonna start?!" "9 minutes." You get the drift. Well, the joke was on me 'cuz the game didn't start in 9 minutes. Globie, the mascot, came out & warmed up the crowd.
He changed his hair a couple of times & dressed up as different characters. Then he ripped off his basketball garb & was Beyonce! It was hilarious!
He had the boo-tay & all!
Andy Treinin from WHAS-11 was on the Washington Generals team. I love this guy! I watch him & Rachel Platt EVERY.SINGLE. day while I'm getting ready for work! I was more star struck by him than the Globetrotters!
They came out & showed off some tricks with the basketballs..JPG)
Brad finally caved & got a couple of drinks for us all to share. What a sucker! (But he's probably Cole's fav right now!)
Warming up! -Uh, yea - these guys DUNK during warm ups. No sweat!
Special K. He must be their team captain - the leader, if you will. He wore a mic & talked through the whole game. (That's the kinda job I need...)
The things these dudes do with basketballs are A-MAZ-ING!
It's hard to see, but he had 1 ball on top of the other & they were spinning & he was flipping them all around! .JPG)
Special K went to all the General players & talked smack before the game. He told them, "Don't have a good game!" or "Break a leg!"
And of course they had to mess with the other coach. They were dancing around him here.
Another slam! They dunked the ball SO many times!
We even danced the "YMCA!"
Cole was NOT feelin' the game. And I felt SO bad! But Brad said he does that stuff at the tractor pull. He's interested for like 10 minutes & then he's over it. Towards the end he asked me, "What time is it?!" Uh-oh, bad sign!
They were dancing up on a guy throwing free throws to mess him up.
Then they pulled the guys pants down!
And he returned the favor!
The Generals coach put Special K in a trance so he couldn't play.
And he laid on the floor & was sucking his thumb.
They had done the "dump water on the crowd trick" to the people across from us. So at the end of the game, they were gonna get each other back. And they came to our side of the court.
And I was all excited 'cuz I was like, "It's not water! It's gonna be paper!" (But I had thought that at the beginning & it really was water! -My camera's waterproof! What do I care?!)
And thankfully, I was right - just paper this time!
Un-solicited final kid reviews: Derik (he's 17), "The Globetrotters are the best!" Brady (13), "That was really cool, Jaime. Thanks for taking us!" Cole (7) - He never made a peep...I know how he felt about it... Eh- 2 outta 3 ain't bad!
And MY favorite part?! They acted like they were playing football & Special K was like, "Blue 41, blue 41!" & blue 41 would come out & do a dance or something. After he went through all the players, he said, "REWIND!!" And they did it all again - BACKWARDS!!! It was freakin' amazing!
