We needed to put some fungicide down on a couple of fields of corn. The fungicide helps keep fungus & diseases down on the plants. The field at our house is one of the better looking fields (I'm an awesome corn grower...) so it was one of the fields they chose to put the fungicide on. But here's the thang, the corn is really tall. Like over 6' tall. It's too tall to drive over with the sprayer. So what ever were we supposed to do?!
Helicopter baby...
Oh yea, we hired a company to come out & spray the corn.
And ya'll know I was as excited as a kid on Christmas about it!
I stood out on the deck & took about 5 gazillion pics of this dude. After a few minutes, I could smell the chemicals. It probably causes birth defects or something - luckily I don't have to worry about that...
It was soooo cool how he would turn around. It looked like he was suspended in the air as he turned, then he got lined up & took off again.
See the roof? Proof he was over the house...

I mean, you can see the dude!
So B-rad told me to come over to the barn so I could get pics of him re-filling his tank. I tried to get a pic of the tank, but my funny, funny nephew decided to photo bomb me!
While we were waiting for the 'copter to come back, I noticed the sky was getting kinda dark...
He was right over my freakin' head.
There's a platform on the truck that he lands on.
And the truck driver dude fills him back up with chemicals.
Should I have taken the hint?! (If you can't make the pic bigger, it says 'danger' with an arrow...)
I was really surprised at how much wind it put off. I probably shouldn't have been running all around it, but I was...
As he was taking off, B-rad looked out and said, "Look! The rain is coming!" It was kinda like in the movie 'Titanic'... Iceberg! Dead ahead!!! So I did what any respectable blogger would do - took a pic & hauled ass to the truck.
See the rainbow?
We were all piled in B-rad's truck. Notice how Brian isn't looking at the camera? He flashed a smile, but he's looking at the 'copter coming back!
And it rained pretty good for a while. This is the point where the boys started thinking about dollar signs. Chemicals need to sit on the crops for a bit before they can get rained on. Uhmmm, what kinda discount are we gonna get because it rained right after he put the chemicals on?

First, the title of this post cracks me up. Where do you come up with this stuff???
Second, that was a very cool experience. It's not everyday that people get a helicopter flying around in their backyard.
Finally, the last picture of the helicopter and the rainbow is fabulous!
i love that last picture too! very cool!
Denise - I cannot tell a lie...B-rad came up with a title for this one! I try very hard to come up w/ cutesie titles, but I drew a blank this time! :)
