There's nothing I enjoy more than talking about myself...

My, oh my - you guys totally stepped up to the plate with the questions! I laughed at most of them, so thanks for the laugh! :)
You really need to get comfy, grab a drink & a snack - 'cuz I am incapable of answering questions with just a few words. You're gonna be in for the long haul. Mmmmmkay?!
Ok - let's dive right in:

Gretchen & Jami want to know:
Why don't you want kids??
Ok, the simple answer is - I don't wanna mess with 'em. I know, I know - you're in shock & awe. But that's just how it is. I'm thinking about telling people from now on that I have a hostile uterus or I'm in-fertile or something. Then they'll feel bad, maybe cry & then leave me the hell alone about it. Here's the thang - I've NEVER, EVER in my life had the feeling of, "oh, I wanna be a mom. I wanna have children." Just typing the words makes me throw up a little in my mouth. I don't want the responsibility. I'm selfish. I like being able to go where I want when I want & be gone as long as I want. Plus, I am home 99% of the time alone because Brad's so busy on the farm & gone so much. Parenting is a full-on contact sport, it's 24/7 & I like to come home from work & lay on the couch if I want or take a nap on the weekends. Like I said, selfish. It's not that I don't like kids - because I really do. I just like giving them back to their parents more...

Gretchen asks:

Your mom has gone to Graceland for a while, have you ever gone with her? Are your mom and dad together?

My mom started going to church right after I was born. She called me her 'miracle baby' because having me convinced her to go to church. What can I say? I'm a giver AND inspirational! Anyways - from the time I was born until around 15, we walked to the Nazarene church right down the road. We went every Sunday morning & night, Wednesday nights & every night of a revival. I used to play the piano during service & mom would lead singing. (How's that for craziness?!) When I was 15, mom decided she wanted something more than the Nazarene church could offer. So she carted us into....dum dum duuuumm- Graceland! Talk about a shock to the system! It was totally different than what I was used to & I.hated.it. Eventually I made friends (remember I used to be painfully shy - it was tough to make friends there!) & one of those girls was even my maid of honor. But to answer your question (sorry...I digress) sometimes I go with her. Usually she guilts us into going on Easter & Mother's Day. There are 2 reasons we don't go normally to Graceland. #1-it's a 45 minute drive. And when early service starts at 8:15, we gotta leave at 7:30 to get there, it takes 30-45 min to get ready - you do the math - I'm selfish (hello?!) & don't want to get up that early on Sunday morning. #2 - Brad's grandfather is a preacher at a Church of Christ 5 minutes down the road. We used to go there, but Brad even works Sundays on the farm AND there was some family stuff that went down that I wasn't real happy about so I have mixed feelings about going to church there. So right now - we don't currently go anywhere.

Yes, mom & dad are together. They have been married 41 years. But they don't like each other very much. It's a strange dynamic but it's what I've known my whole life. No judgement here - just different strokes for different folks. (By the way - dad has never even been to church, I don't think.) Gretchen - I will fb you Easter to remind you I'll be there - early service - 2nd row... be there or be square...

What does B-rad do that infuriates you??

B-rad is NEVER 'happy' with what he has. He is always wanting to change everything he gets. Now, some of you may say, "Geez, Jaime, cut him some slack. At least he doesn't wanna settle for anything." Here's the thang - he goes all in, 2 feet first into everything. No half-assing it here, no sir-ee. When he wanted to duck hunt -he had to go out & buy ALL the crap for duck hunting. Didn't even do it a couple of times to see how if he liked it. Now - he doesn't duck hunt (because he's found new things to do!). His new fancy schmancy pick up truck? "It's exactly what I've always wanted, Jaime. It's perfect. I'm not going to do anything to it!" Uhm - he decided to put turbo or some crap in it & some kinda chip thingie. That cost us around $500 big ones. Now - in the spirit of full disclosure - it has gained him maybe 2 more miles to the gallon. But see where I'm going with this?! It's always something... I tell him all the time that I can't believe he hasn't wanted to trade me in or upgrade me after all these years. Ok- so maybe that's 2 things. So, shoot me...

I know that you sell jewelry, but what else do you do for a living??
I work at a tractor & lawn mower dealership called Jacobi Sales. It is like 5 miles from my house. How perfect is that? I'm what ya call a 'paper pusher'. I don't really have a "title". I do a hodge podge of things. I do payroll & all the lovely taxes & government stuff that comes with it (gag...), I keep track of the inventory of one of the lines of equipment we have, Kubota (orange tractors...). I also handle the financing for that line & processing all the paperwork for it. Right now it's mind-numbingly slow at work. No one is outside doing anything! But when spring finally breaks & farmers are out & people are mowing - it will be on like donkey kong. Interesting fact: I got this job because I had lost my previous job in Louisville when the company shut down. I was laying around the house all day collecting unemployment - staying up half the night & sleeping half the day. Lora (my sis-in-law) has worked at Jacobi's for like 23 years (!). She was pregnant with my youngest nephew, Cole, & was going to be going on maternity leave. She suggested I go interview to take her place while she was gone & bing, bang, boom - 8 years later - I'm still there. And poor Lora, she can't get away from me no matter how hard she tries!
Denise said: I think I've heard that you and Alicia when to college together? What was your major?
and Jami said: Brad and Daniel are cousins right? But you have known Alicia a longer right, did you guys go to school together?

Yup, Brad & Daniel are cousins. Alicia & I HAVE been friends for-eva. We lived right across the street from each other our whole lives. The school bus picked us both up at the same stop everyday. And I used to babysit her & her brother. When I was old enough to drive, we were in band together & she used to ride to practice & stuff with me. We did not go to college together. She was off to IU & I went to IUS for 2 semesters only. I had enough of school & said, "screw this - I wanna make MONEY & work!" I do not regret the decision to go to college - at all... Alicia was also gracious enough to stand up with me at my wedding. :)

Denise also wants to know:
What is the MOST embarrassing thing you can dish about Alicia?
Alicia - maybe YOU should do this too?! Ok - I don't know if these are embarrassing? But these are 2 major things I will never, ever forget about Alicia Gettelfinger. #1- for my 18th birthday, I asked for a cell phone. This was in 1994 & cell phones were NOT like they are today. It had a 10' long antenna to put on your trunk or hood with a magnet. There was a big, black, long cable that ran from that antenna to the unit itself. The phone was perhaps the size of a answering machine unit today. It came contained in its own BAG if that tells you anything? The handset & battery were seperate & it had one of those curly cue cords from the handset that led to the unit in 'the bag'. Well, we thought we were SOOOO cool because no one else had one of those new fangled cell phones. So when Alicia & I were out in the car - she would hold up the phone to her ear & 'pretend' to talk on it so people would see her & think she was cool. (You couldn't afford to actually talk on them - it was like $12 a minute!) #2-Alicia's parents had curfews & rules for her (back in the day - that's just what our ca-razy parents did - mine included), so on Friday nights after ball games, we would want to go to McDonald's to 'hang out'. (That was like the 2nd restaurant in Corydon & that's just what we did out in the country...). I am 3 years older than her. So when I was 17, she was 14. Still pretty young to be out late. So I would have to call her mom & ask permission for her to stay out a little later. Marcia usually let her - but she always made me work for the hard sale! Love ya, Marcia! ;)

How did you and B-rad hook up? Who was a couple first --- you and Brad OR Daniel and Alicia?

Brad & I went to high school together, too. He was a year behind me. I knew his name, but I had never spoken to him. The summer of 1994, I had just graduated. His brother was dating my bff, Jenny. We went to the Harrison County fair (gay, I know...) & that's where Brad & I were forced to hang out together. We went back to Brian's house afterwards (he's 6 years older & had his own place & had actually had his divorce finalized not too long before that.) Him & my friend were off doing - uhm, God knows what?! & Brad & I sat on the couch & watched the movie, 'The Toy' with Richard Pryor. The rest, as they say - is history. Brad & I were a couple first. But Alicia & Daniel started dating the summer Brad & I got married. We all went to the George Strait festival together in May of 1999 & we were married in June.

Do you drink? I don't think I've ever seen you drink? What's your drink of choice? Do you have any vices --- besides your DVR??

I love it, Denise! Ok- yes I drink - sorta - a little. I do NOT like beer. I'm a 'I'll drink it as long as I can't taste the alcohol' kinda girl. My favorite things right now are the flavored Smirnoff's. My bff, Carrie, got me onto them & they are yummy! I don't drink a lot because I'm a control freak. And I can't be in control if I'm innebriated (sp?). Plus, I have a small filter between my brain & mouth when I'm sober. When I drink, the filter magically disappears & I get my bootie in a ton of trouble. Also - I don't wanna be sick the next day. That's no fun...

Vices? Well, ha ha, yes my dvr is a major one. I'm on the verge of jumping off a cliff when something happens to it. But I also enjoy junk food. I'm a sweets kinda girl. Take those chips & shove 'em, give me chocolate any day! My fave is Reese's peanut butter cups, Eggs & Christmas trees. I'll take your arm right off for that stuff. (The funniest thing is when we go to the lake & take snacks, the kids will get a peanut butter cup & say, "Jaaaaaimeeeee - I'm eating your faaaaavorite!" Even they know! Sad, huh?)

Jami wants to know:

Why do you call Brad B-rad? Is it from Adventures in Babysitting? Cause that so used to be my favorite movie.

Nope, that's not where I got it - but that's pretty good! It came from the movie, "Malibu's Most Wanted". Matt & Carrie saw it & they talked about how funny it was. It's about a white boy (Jamie Kennedy) that thinks he's black. So he talks & lives like he's a black guy. His name is Brad, but he refers to himself as B-rad (pronounced Bee-rad). Carrie started referring to Brad as B-rad & it just kinda stuck. It's also funny because our ski boat is a Malibu...
Alica asked:
if you could buy one thing, what would it be?
Hmmmm. When I read that question - I thought, "I can never think of an answer for that!" Well, I was wrong. Because pretty quickly the light bulb came on! I would buy a magic genie to cook for us - I LOATHE to cook! - & to clean my house. 'Cuz I loathe that too!
Thanks so much ya'll! I hope you enjoyed my short, sweet, to the point answers- I did my best to answer quickly & consicely as possible...

Well, how much fun was this to read?!? It felt like a small novel, but I loved it ;) For real, it was very interesting, I heart hearing people's stories...a few things:

The kid thing--I figured as much. Better to know you don't want them, then to have them and resent them!!

From the Nazarene church to G-land. I bet you about died!! I saw your mom this morning, and wanted to say something to her, but thought it might freak her out. I will be looking for you on Easter morning (early service is 9:00) Be there ;)

Oh and what is about Reese's trees and eggs that are way better than the cups?? Love in my mouth.
