Harvest Homecoming

I headed to Harvest Homecoming on Saturday to see Brian & Shauna's son, Dylan, in the costume contest.  Brian made this Minecraft Steve costume.
Now-I have no clue about Minecraft or who 'Steve' is & why he is special,  but I'm sure you blog stalkers that have kids will...
None the less, whether you know about Minecraft or Steve or none of the above - the costume looks awesome.
  Harvest Homecoming always has a theme & they give more 'points' to costumes that have to deal w/ the theme.  This year was 'hot rod harvest'.  I think the kid to the left of Dylan won this age group... he was Boss Hog from Dukes of Hazard.
Dylan came in 3rd...I think he was robbed...
 The plan was for me to meet the Groves' & go to Harvest w/ them.  When I got to their house Saturday morning, Shauna had been sick all night & still didn't feel well enough to go so I took their daughter, Ally, w/ me.  We were going to walk around after the contest & Ally was excited because she said this was her first Harvest Homecoming (usually her dads weekend falls on Harvest...)  Some of Brian's family was there for the contest as well & his niece, Lauren, wanted to walk around w/ Ally & I too.  (Obviously she knows me as does her mom, {Brian's sister} Tricia.)
Tricia & her mom were going to walk to the car show but the girls & I didn't want to go there.  Tricia said, 'Jaime - are you SURE you want to take them both with you?'
UHM - it's two 11 year old girls...how hard can it be?
{Disclaimer - I will remind you all that I don't mind kids...or hanging out w/ kids...or doing fun things w/ kids.  What I DO mind is housing them for 9 months in my uterus {GAG}, pushing them outta my va-jay-jay {DOUBLE GAG}, having them w/ me 24-7 {TRIPLE GAG}, waking up in the middle of the night w/ them {QUADRUPLE GAG} & essentially being responsible for their up-bringing & what kinds of humans they will turn out to be.  {IDDA KNOW WHAT 5 GAGS IS ---BUT INSERT THAT HERE.}
So yea - letting them walk around w/ me for a few hours is no problemo!

My favorite part of the day was when the contest was over & we were all discussing who was going where & w/ whom - Ally & Lauren were arguing over who liked me more.
I hate stuff like that...
 Since I'm super cool, I let the girls make these sand bottle things.  I was just glad I didn't have to clean up the colorful, sandy mess.
  Lauren did a coke bottle & Ally did a peace sign.  (It matches her room, people.)
 Next up was riding spinning, make ya wanna puke rides...& they wanted to ride ALLLLL the spinning rides.  Gasp...
They wanted me to ride w/ them but I was like, "UHM NO."  They begged & begged but I stayed strong.  I am too old for that spinning make me wanna puke nonsense.
I fended them off by telling them SOMEONE had to hold their stuff while they rode.  They were good w/ that & stopped asking me to ride with them.   I did hear LOTS of other people say, 'Yea - I used to be able to ride these rides when I was young - I can't do it anymore.'
AMEN, people - AMEN.  That's me!
Holding all their stuff reminded me of when I was young & mom would say, 'I'm not holding all your stuff!'  I was happy to do this though, because it got me out of riding!
Plus it reminded me that kids have lots of stuff! {INSERT 6 GAGS HERE}
It turned out to be a really nice day despite the cool weather that morning.  The girls got shaved ice & we bought a few little things at the booths.  They got to see kids they go to school with (they're on fall break for 2 weeks...) & ride all those damn rides.  We never did settle which one in fact, DOES like me more... we'll have to decide that another time.
