Summer concert series - Miranda Lambert

If you haven't read the post before this one - I will warn you it is ALSO about a concert.  YES Shauna & I saw 2 concerts in 2 days.  We're crazy like that.

So let me tell ya how this one came about...
Of course we saw Miranda Lambert when she opened for Jason Aldean last month.  Shauna's birthday is in August & when I was trying to think of a gift for her - going to see Miranda Lambert's Platinum tour made sense.  She'd be the headliner, we'd hear more songs  & it would be another concert under our belts.

Shauna LOVES Miranda Lambert & I know for myself that I go see Faith Hill anytime everytime she's in the tri-state area (I saw the same show twice in one year once because I'm insane!) so I figured I couldn't go wrong taking her to see her again.
Now-Shauna likes surprises so I didn't wanna tell her what I was doing, but I also didn't want her to make other plans for that day.  I texted her hubby, Brian, & told him what I wanted to do & had him check their calendar.  All was clear so I asked told him to 'think of something & write it on the calendar so she doesn't make other plans.'  And he did...he wrote "family outing".  Imagine the fear that struck my heart when one night we were on the phone & I heard her ask him, "Hey-the calendar says 'family outing' on the 16th.  What is that?"  To which he said, "UHM...I don't remember..."
Well oiled machine, people... This is why I hate surprises...  :)

I printed the ticket on pink card stock & wrapped it all up w/ some pretty ribbon & voila - a birthday present was born.  We had lunch the weekend before her birthday & B-rad said, "Are you gonna give her the tickets?"  I said, "Uhm - I'm giving her ONE ticket.  I'm not giving her both because she has to take ME!"  I didn't want her to get some crazy idea w/ 2 tickets & want to take her hubby or something.  Nope.
(Hi, Brian!  Love you..)
The concert was at Klipsch up near Indy.  I really like it up there.  It's nice, it's clean & there is a lot of staff to tell you where to park & help you with your seats.  The only bad thing is that most the restrooms are port-a-potties & they have staff blocking the lower sections checking your tickets which means you can't accidentally on purpose sit in the lower section where you see an empty seat.

We may or may not have decided at a gas station an hour away to buy our own drinks & ice them down on the way to smuggle them in in our purses when we got there.  Genius idea, people.  They look in your bags -  but not well.  We put the drinks in a plastic bag & laid our wallets on top.  You open your bag, they look in & in ya go...
Before the show.  Remember these pretty faces...they don't end the night or next day so pretty...
Thomas Rhett was one of the opening acts.  I've seen him 3 times now.  We all saw him at Jason Aldean last year & B-rad & I saw him w/ Brantley Gilbert.
Justin Moore was up next.  I almost got my butt in a lot of trouble over this one.  When I bought the tickets it said the opening acts were 'Thomas Rhett & Jukebox Mafia'.  When I printed the tickets - it said Justin Moore & I was like UH OH.  B-rad really likes Justin Moore.  He was at the Horseshoe Casino back in the spring but we couldn't go because of planting.  I made Shauna pinky swear that we wouldn't tell B-rad he was there because I didn't want him to get mad.  I ended up telling him the next day & he was ok w/ it.  Shew...
Ya'll - this place was PACKED.  Granted I've only been there twice before but I have NEVER seen so many people.  Like I was wondering where the heck everybody was going to fit.  I'll tell you where they fit - the grass field in the back.  It was standing room only.  This was during one of the opening acts.  PACKED.
Jukebox Mafia sang on a little stage where all the computer stuff was set up.  They were really good.
Then it was time for the main attraction.  Everybody was on their feet the WHOLE night.
I know B-rad really likes Miranda Lambert so I sent him a pic when she came out... And this is why I love him - his response below the pic.  He's so funny.
(And yes below that is a pic of my crotch - I'm getting there, don't worry...)
Miranda got herself a hair cut a while back...she used to have really long hair.  I like it shorter, but Shauna & I decided it kinda looks like a mullet.  Like she needs to either cut it a bit more OR let it grow a bit.
Just our 'be it ever so humble' opinions...
She had disco balls come down during one song & it was SOOO pretty!
OK-so we had our smuggled drinks in w/ us & had finished them by the time the concert was over.  I had a drink w/ dinner, 1 on our way in (there were so many people we had to wait in line a while just to get IN) & 4 during the concert.  (The small cans.)  I'm a light weight so I was pretty toasted.  We decided to sit in the parking lot & just hang out talk & sing until all the traffic was gone.  Shauna kept doing things to make the lights come on in the car which was painful to my eyes so I put on sunglasses.  I attempted to take a picture of myself w/ sunglasses on (you know - for YOU) but I could NOT get the flash to work. (I didn't know it, but my camera WAS taking pics but the flash wasn't going off - I had about 5 dark pics of me when I was looking through my pics...) Since I couldn't get the job done, Shauna held up her camera to take a pic & as I lowered my phone, the flash went off right on my crouch.  We found this hilarious & Shauna snatched my phone & sent it to B-rad.
Reason #2 I love him:  His response was, "Why are you sending me a pic of your crouch?  Did you pee yourself?"
 See-sunglasses in the dark.
We got back to Shauna's around 2:00-2:30 am... & as if being in the car for 2 1/2 hours on the way up, being at the concert all night, sitting in the parking lot for an hour & driving back home 2 1/2 hours wasn't enough togetherness - we sat in her driveway & talked until 5:00 AM.
This is what THAT looked like...

I was asked by Gretchen how many concerts I've been to this year...the answer is 7.  Everyone acts like that's a lot??  I love music, I love the energy of the crowd & I'm always w/ good company - what's NOT to love?   And what's even worse is I have no more concerts scheduled for the rest of the year.  Oh, the humanity...

Happy Birthday to Shauna!
