Last night we went to see the Broadway production of "Wicked". I had never seen this production, but I have seen "Phantom of the Opera" & "The Lion King" & enjoyed them both very much. Tickets are pretty expensive so I wanted to get a consensus of other peoples opinions before shelling out the moolah. So what else was I to do but send out feelers on facebook for people who have seen it to get their opinions! God bless the internet...
I got ALL positive feedback from my peeps on the web, so I decided to take the big leap & buy tickets. And this pained my soul because I try to be thrifty. And $100 buckaroos PER ticket is a shock to the ole credit card... Alas, I wrote it off as "it's my birthday present..." & that made me feel better... a little. We went out to eat at O'Charley's. Don't judge - I had a $5 coupon.... 5 bucks is 5 bucks.... & it just so happened it cost 5 bucks to park at the Center for the Arts...
A guy I work with was going to see it (again) & their seats were in a box. I've never sat in a box before. So he gave me his information & told me to call & get seats in their box. So I did. That's another reason the tickets were a little higher. Never fear, I got other peoples opinions about that too - whether it was worth the extra money?

We had our own door & there were 10 seats in there. B-rad really liked it. There was a lot of leg room. When we sat down he said, "FYI-from now on, get box seats!" My opinion on the box seats? Eh, I could take 'em or leave 'em. I didn't really like looking 'down' on everything. I would've preferred a straight on look. However, we could see things going on in the back of the stage a little better.
Here we are before it started. Sorry about the lovely shade of orange we are. I didn't wanna use the flash because I didn't want the Kentucky Center for the Arts picture Nazi's to bust me using my camera. (You may say, "Oh, they wouldn't care - the show hadn't started..." Tsk, tsk. I did the same thing with the flash at Actor's Theatre before we saw 'A Christmas Carol' & one of the Actor's Theatre picture nazi's came down & told me I would have to put that away before the show started. Duh....I can read....it says that in the program. Sheesh!
Notice the empty seats below? Yes, I am OCD about being on time or early. I get major high anxiety/bitchy-ness when I'm running late. We were promptly in our seats at 7:05. The show started at 7:30.
I was sitting right next to the lights.
The curtain to keep us in suspense. It had a map of 'Oz' on it with the Emerald City right smack dab in the middle.
B-rad decided to make the best of a bad situation (the bad situation being early...he does not like my 'being early' obsession...) & decided to lean over the edge to see if he could see down anyones shirt.
Then he got bored with that (he's got a d d. Seriously, he does. He used to take medication when he was young...) & played on his cell phone for a bit.
Insert the production here. I don't know if you know anything about "Wicked", but here's the basics: It's the story of the Glinda the Good (she wasn't a witch) & the Wicked Witch of the East BEFORE Dorothy 'dropped' in. It was very funny (which surprised me...) & it was so neat to see how everything led up to the story of the "Wizard of Oz". I was quite entertained. The downside? It was 3 freakin' hours long. However, when the first Act was over & I looked at my watch, it was 9:10. It did not seem that 1 1/2 hours had passed. The singing was phenomenal & so was the acting. I would definately go see it again!
