Ya'll know I have my super cool iPhone, right? And I also had to get my own iPad because the one B-rad & I bought to 'share' he took over. I wouldn't consider ourselves 'Apple' people because we still had normal Windows based computers at home.
Well...
I have been thinking for a while about getting a Mac. They are pretty pricey & ya'll know I'm cheap about stuff like that. A girl that I work with has had a Mac forever & was going to upgrade hers before she went back to college. She knew I had been teetering back & forth & she offered to sell me hers. It seemed like the best of both worlds - I get to try a Mac...for less than a new one....

I've had it for about a month & I would list it as 'ok'. I'm still getting used to everything on it. I've done windows for so many years it's like learning another language.
But...there's a story.. (UHM there's always a story...)
I turned it on one night & it wouldn't come on. You could hear it boot up but the screen was black. I googled some troubleshooting things & none of them worked. Sigh.
So I made an appointment to take it to the Apple store in Louisville. I've never been to the Apple store...but once I was there... I didn't want to leave.
There was a whole wall of cases. Oh.my.word. I just stood there & stared. (And, NO I didn't buy a new one.)
At first I saw these cases & thought they were for phones. And I thought that if you are young enough to WANT a case like this - you are NOT old enough to have a phone. But I think they're for iPod touches.
There were people everywhere. All the workers wore blue shirts with an Apple on them. I sooo wanna live work there. All the employees were super friendly. They called you by name & introduced themselves. They answered your questions without talking down to you. (because they're super smart & your...well....not....)
They had tables set up with the different products on them so you could try them out. IPod's lining the walls with headphones, a table full of iPads, a table full of iPhones, a table full of MacBook Airs...you see where I'm going with this. HEAVEN.
They even had a table labeled 'kids' for them to sit & play with iPads. Good God - I NEVER let children touch my iPad...
So the rest of the story is that the computer is fixable, but it's almost 5 years old & after 5 years - they consider them 'vintage' (love that word) & will not work on them. My laptop will be 5 in November. So...I had a big decision to make. Fix mine? Just live with my windows laptop? Just buy a new Mac?
I reluctantly walked out of the store & sat down to call B-rad. Of course he said, "Do whatever you think." He's so helpful...
I BOUGHT A NEW iMAC. BE STILL OUR HEARTS.
I got a desktop version. I don't really NEED a laptop because anything I need to do while I'm away from home can be done on my iPad. All it is is what you see above. A screen, a keyboard & mouse. The ONLY wire is the one that you use to plug it in with. (I had the most horrible mess of wires under my desk to get out to put this one in...it's crazy how far technology has come in just 3 years...)
Usually I wait for B-rad to do this kind of thing because he has patience. It was 7 & he wasn't home yet. I thought, "I'll just get all my old stuff out..." Then it was 7:30, no B-rad. Ok-I'll just get everything outta the box. 8:00, no B-rad. Ok, I'll try setting it up...
I've set up a LOT of computers. (I never said I couldn't do it - I just LIKE B-rad to do it because he's more patient!) And I swear to you - this was the most simple thing to do EVER. The little booklet walked you through the first steps (basically pairing the keyboard & mouse & turning it on) & the screen walked you through everything else.
I sat in my office until after 10 playing on it & getting all my stuff set up. I must tell you - I LOVE it. I know I've only had it for like 5 minutes - but I do...I love it. I can't wait to go home & play on it. I have a sad life...
The inside of the little booklet says it all:

Can I just say awesome!!! Oh how I love the wall of cases.
The Apple store is AWESOME. I've been in it several times, but the best is when my dad goes in. It's like Norm from Cheers, "JOHN!" HA! Congrats on the new Apple. They make a superior product, no doubt about it.
I always feel so uncool when I have to go in the apple store. I do admit my Mac was the easiest computer I have ever set up. Basically pull it out of the box and it is ready to go! Love it. The hard thing is I have a Mac at home and a windows based laptop at work. It is hard to train your mind back and forth.
That's fun! We probably won't ever have a mac with Chad working for Microsoft and all. I do want an iphone. Daniel may kick me out if I insist on one though!
