Sometimes I feel a bit like a broken record. Living in the country sucks. Having no hi-speed internet sucks. Losing my made up blog contest sucks.
Unlucky for ya'll I like to complain so here we go....
Stalkers - you know we live what some refer to as "God's Country". However, surely God wants a smart, funny, pretty, sassy, bitchy gal like me to have hi-speed internet. You'd think he'd get tired of hearing me too. Hmph.
Nowadays (don't you just LOVE that word?!) the internet is required for darn near everything. You sucky stalkers that live with fast, fancy pants internet may not even realize what all you use it for because it's effortless. It's just THERE. Not here in God's country, people...
My new, most awesomest computer in the whole, entire world needed a software update. OS X or Mountain Lion...perhaps you've heard of it if you ever watch the news...? The download itself was WAY over our daily budget with our stupid satellite internet. (YES we have a daily download limit. God, can you hear me?) And because stupid me thought, "oh - I don't NEED a laptop - I can do everything I ever need away from home on my iPad or iPhone." UHM I forgot about super huge updates & the simplicity of throwing a laptop in a cute purple bag & being on my way.
What to do, what to do? My iMac screen is pretty big & VERY heavy. Mac's don't have the traditional 'towers' like in pc's so all the brains are in the screen. And Mac brains are heavy. So I was gonna have to lug this thing somewhere to do the update....
I thought about taking it to my mom's & mooching using her internet, but their house is older & it doesn't really have a lot of electrical outlets in the best places. I didn't wanna leave my Mac on the floor for the dogs to pee on it, look at it or breathe on it. And I didn't want to plug it in & leave the cord dangling from the kitchen to the dining room table for my oaf of a dad to knock it off. Then B-rad suggested, "Take it to Butterflies house." He's a genius.
This is B-rad's key Butterfly got him to get into the house. I know it's worn a bit - but you get the picture...
I very carefully packed it in my car & took it to Butterflies before I went to work & started the update. I sat it in his hallway...
It took about 45 minutes for the update to run. I went to check on it at lunch (Butterfly lives about 2 min from where I work & from mom & dad.) All I needed to do was install it & be on my way.
Oh my gosh - I know I've said it before, but I cannot tell you how much I love this thing. I am learning more & more on it everyday. With the OS X update I can text another iOS device (iPad, iPhone) from.my.computer. May sound silly, but as I sit here & type & B-rad's texting me - it's popping up on my screen & I can reply from here. No phone in my hand.)
I am so happy I wasn't cheap for once & just bought the damn thing. (I'm quite certain my AAA credit card may think it was stolen because I put the iMac on it...then bought our flights for Vegas & put our hotel deposit on it. AN just yesterday I put 2 new iPhone 5's on it...that's a WHOLE other story. Curiously enough no one has called me to verify the purchases...it just likes to shop...)
