UGH politics....elections...media drama...liars... I hate it all. I know they say you should never discuss politics or religion....since when do I ever listen? I'm not going to tell you my political views...you probably don't care. Just like I don't really are what your views are. We are all allowed to think what we want. Hello, that's why we live in the good 'ole U S of A. But what I WILL tell you about is how I feel about all the drama surrounding the dreaded presidential election.
I don't keep up with any of it. EVER. (Daniel - I know you're dying right now.) The thing is - I just don't care. My feeling is that the news media sways public opinion by harping on something over & over & over & then stretching the truth & mincing words & it all gets thrown WAY out of proportion. (for example - I heard that the republican vp candidate, Paul Ryan, (who is HOT by the way...) said he finished a marathon in 3 hours. So someone decided this was very important news & paid someone to find out his ACTUAL marathon times. He actually finished it in 4 hours...so he LIED. Really? All politicians are liars. Period. What in the HECK does his marathon times have to do with his ability to be Vice President?! BLAH!) ...
Sure you can say, "it's our future". That's a valid argument, but here's my rebuttal for that. My one little vote will not make the future what I want it to be. These politicians don't care about us. They are all in it for themselves. How to make themselves richer (no matter their party affiliation). How to promote their agenda. It's exhausting. I also know that no one cares about what I think. If I called my congressman right now (which I don't even know who that is) & told him (or her?) how I felt - they would tell me what I wanted to hear & then never think about me again. They say they're going to do 'x,y&z' for us & it just never happens. In my opinion - it boils down to who sells the best story in the media
I remember a little from government class that there's the House & Senate right? And they have to agree & pass stuff for it to be law, right? When Obama was elected the house was Democrat I believe. And then 2 years later when they were up for re-election, the country as a consensus was pissed at the job that Obama was doing so they voted ALL those people out & the House became Republican. Then it's like oil & water mixing & nothing gets done. That's fabulous for our future...
My prediction is that Mitt Romney will win this election...then in 2 years when the the House is up for re-election & the country as a consensus is pissed at the job he will be doing they will vote them all out. Then we'll have a Democratic house...a Republican president & more oil & water. See, nothing gets done? It's mind numbing...
You can take a fun quiz about who you should vote for here. Although I only knew about what 5 questions were about - I found the results interesting. I scored 90% to vote for one candidate...but I agreed with the other candidate 35% on social issues.
Please feel free to tell me your views on politics by commenting. Do you agree with me or no? What are your feelings on politics in the media? Do you care Paul Ryan told the wrong marathon time or are you going to vote for him because he's easy on the eyes?
My only request is that they be respectful.
I respect your opinions so you have to respect mine mmmm kay?
(AND in the spirit of full disclosure - my dad has been involved in local politics practically my whole life. So I know a thing or two about politicians. I've made campaign signs in our garage. I've jumped outta the car & stapled them to trees while dad drove me around town. I've been door to door asking for votes. I've heard the 'do this for me & I'll do this for you' phone calls. That's why I vote in every.single.election. My dad would disown me if I didn't... but I also like to complain...& they say you can't complain if you don't vote!)

Oil and water. Amen! I agree on that. It has always been back and forth. I will quit there though because I might p*ss too many people off that read your blog and I am one way and dead end! LOL
I'm sort of apathetic to politics. I'm a conservative gal, and usually vote that way, but I feel in my heart it makes no difference. I just trust God and let the rest go...
I'm a conservative leaner too. Although, I donI't think Romney is going to win. I just don't feel it.
I also vote and I have my opinions I just choose not to spread them all over facebook. I don't think I am going to convince someone eitherwise so why ruffle anyone's feathers? How do you decide who you are going to vote for if you don't pay attention or care? Just curious.
Alicia - Dad ALWAYS tells me who to vote for (shocking). Sometimes I listen... sometimes I don't. When I choose not to listen I either vote for a female, or if I've heard of the person or if I like their name. I know it's not the most ideal way to vote - but that's what I do! (Don't tell Daniel...or my dad!) :)
