What happens when I'm not home to supervise

Let me tell you a tale.  A tale of a boy & girl who live in the middle of nowhere & can't even get hi-speed internet.  It's sad...it's riveting...you may even cry...

There is no 'hi-speed' anything where we live.  In this day & age of fast information & complete internet take over, it's hard on a gal who loves her fast information & complete internet takeovers....  Last year we had Hughes net install a satellite dish put on the house to provide internet.  We had to sign a 2 year contract.  They advertise it as 'hi-speed', & it IS compared to dial-up we used to have...but it's still nowhere near the 'real' hi-speed other people have.   It costs $60 a month (ugh!) but we only get 250 mb a DAY of use.  That's not a lot, people.  There is NO WAY we could ever do an iTunes update or download movies or anything fun like that.  Sigh...

When we bought my iPad, Verizon was offering a special on the 'hot spot' wi-fi cards.  If you bought one & signed a 2 year contract, you got a $100 rebate on an iPad.  Ya'll know I love me some rebates...  It was $50 a month for 5 gb of service.  (See, in the country we are limited to what the internet Gods will allow us to have....normal people can download until their little hearts are content...It sucks.out.loud.)  I thought that was a good deal because I could use it on my iPad when I take it to my jewelry shows (so I don't have to depend on someone else having wi-fi for me to run credit cards or whatever..).  Plus, it was another way to have more internet at home if we needed it.  Who doesn't need more internet?

B-rad is not unscathed in this sordid tale.  Poor Princess can't play video games online at home.  Oh, the humanity.  He has to depend on the kindness of others to let him come to their homes & soak up their internet.  On one of the games he plays, he's not 'ranked' very high because he never gets to play.  So on game night, none of his buddies wanted him on their team because his rank wasn't good.
Poor B-rad... sniff, sniff..

B-rad started doing some research.  And he discovered that Jaime Mac's hot spot card just might work on his online gaming quest.  We would just have to watch how much data he used while using it.  Ah, crap....

And it DID work.  He was online playing late Sunday night....& ALL Monday night (until he got mad because I wanted to eat supper & watch tv instead of watching him kill people...).  I had official jewelry business Tuesday evening & when I got home around 8 - this is what I found:  More online gaming.  Sigh...we've created a monster.... (Please notice the blinds are NOT open so I could see the tree when I got home... he did plug it in, but I just figure that's because it made light for him...) See Sonny at the bottom of the pic on the couch?!  He's got it rough...
Last night I had a jewelry show so the hot spot card came with me.  It was intended to be mine, after all.  Princess could.not.fathom the thought of being without his new found toy for one evening.  Yesterday he was doing more feverish research about getting his OWN internet card.  And he looked at gaming message boards & emailed people & everything.  And last night he told me... "I ordered my OWN Verizon card."  He IS paying for it with his own money, which I love.
If you lost track, that's a total of $60 for Hughes net, $50 for MY Verizon card & now $50 for HIS Verizon card.  Yea, we spend $160 a month...for the freakin' internet....  Sad...
(I'm trying to decide when/how to get us out of the Hughes net contract...)

When I got home from my show, I knew since I had the only connection B-rad had to the play station gaming community-he would HAVE to do something else.  Perhaps clean up the spare room that's supposed to be HIS gaming room so I don't have to be subjected to that crap?  UHM-no...he decided instead to go get the combine head from the field.
This is what happens when it's a little too wet to be in the field...
Nice, huh?  How long do you think it will take him to wash this off?!  I mean, tonight I'll be home...with my internet hot spot card...

Don't be Hatin'!! Finish the story. What else have I figured out what the Hot Spot is good for. Maybe downloading and streaming movies. See I researched everything known to man on data usage. Just a FYI Blog stalkers. Online gaming only uses about 50-75mb per hour of gaming. In other words I can average 3.4 hours of gaming a night for a month with a 5gb card. I have a feeling I will be upgrading to the 10gb cap after my first month. :)

Ya'll crack me up!! I feel bad for your whole "live in the country and can't get high speed anything". :( My parents have the same problem. You can click to open a picture, go fix dinner, watch tv, and take a hot bath and then MAYBE the picture will be open!!!
