B-rad & myself, Matt & Carrie and Carrie's parents went on a 7 day cruise to the Eastern Caribbean last week.
The trip began Friday afternoon when we had to fly to Orlando, Florida. We were originally supposed to leave Saturday, but the airline changed our flight. We would have gotten to Orlando too late to catch the ship if we kept that flight. Sooooo, since we had non-refundable tickets, we had to change to the day before. I wasn't gonna let B-rad take his phone because I am cheap & am not willing to pay all the fees & charges when you make or receive phone calls in International waters. However, he reaaaaaaaly wanted to take his phone to play games & watch movies on the plane. I called AT&T & found out how to turn all the cell phone stuff off on it. He was able to use it until Saturday morning when the boat set sail.
See what he did the whole time we were in the planes? He kept teasing me, "Oh no, you didn't wanna bring YOUR phone...you're not gonna use mine!" Hmph.
We stayed at a hotel in Orlando Friday night. We were up bright & early Saturday morning to catch the bus that would take us to Port Canaveral to get on the ship. Ah, the first glance.
Our ship was the Carnival Dream. It is the newest ship in the Carnival fleet. It is a little over 1 year old.
This is actually our second cruise. We got a balcony room the first time & really enjoyed it. B-rad likes to go out & watch us come in & out of the ports. Plus I think they're a little roomier than interior rooms (which have NO windows by the way. Gasp!) The balcony rooms are only $200 more per week per person than the interior or other rooms with small windows & I think that's totally worth it! So this was our home for the week.
Matt & Carrie were in the room next to us.
You can see another cruise ship behind us. There are 3 different lines of cruise ships that leave from Port Canaveral.
If you look very closely, you can see NASA in the verrrrry far distance!
Our last balcony room overlooked the water. That's it. Just water. This boat had a deck under the balcony rooms. We're assuming because of all the people who are going overboard on ships. You couldn't fall outta your room & land in the water. At first B-rad was irritated that our room overlooked one of the whirlpools, but he quickly changed his mind when this chick walked by...
Matt & B-rad having their first drinks.
Carrie & I having our first drinks. Of course mine was fruity!
At dinner the first night, Carrie had told them it was Matt's birthday. Some of the waiting staff came over & sang happy birthday to him.
This was the end of our first day on the ship (Saturday). If you've never been on a cruise, I highly recommend it. All your food is included in your fees. And it's ALL YOU CAN EAT food. 24 hours of food. And the food is pretty yummy. There is definately something for everyone.
When we were leaving the Port, there is a Disney ship that docks there. And I was thinkin', "Man, those Disney cruises would suck because kids would be everywhere!" Well, there were kids on our cruise too....but I hardly ever saw them. Carnival has a program called 'Camp Carnival' where they take care of your kids for the week. They have fun activities for them & keep them occupied. I don't know if it costs anymore money, but think about it. You go on vacation - someone else takes care of your kids while you do your thang? That's what I call a vacation...

I for one, have never been on a cruise!! I would love to though. I'm hoping for our 10 year anniversary. Can't wait to see all the posts. For a while there, I was thinking you had jumped off a bridge, then I remembered you were to be gone for a while. Glad you're back, and had fun!!! ;-)
They're a lot of fun! If you ever have questions, call me! I'll tell ya all about it! ;)
