Vaca day 2 - a surprise visitor

The 2nd day of my vacation was designated to making desserts for the gift exchange at work. You may think it's odd that I say "making" & not "baking"...well, I didn't actually bake anything. I made chocolate fudge that was cooked in the microwave (that's my kind of baking). I also made something called pretzel bark. All it was was chopping pretzels & nuts, melting chocolate (again using my handy dandy microwave) & mixing it all together. Some may say that is cheating by doing something so easy. I say work smarter, not harder.
Perhaps the best part of the day was a surprise phone call I got from my niece, Erin. She called to see if I could watch Miss Madelyn for a few hours because Payton was getting to come home from the hospital! Of course I said "YES! Bring her on over!" She found the 1 & only present I had wrapped under the tree. But I tell you, she is one of THE best little girls.
I told her to be easy...& she was. She picked it up & looked at it - then put it back down.
Of course she had to check out the tree. She did really good with that too. She only touched 3, count 'em 3, ornaments. (And thankfully none of them were Barbies or this story could've ended much worse. I draw the line at Barbies...) She was most enamoured with one of the red tractors. She kept going back to it. I'd say, "Madelyn, where's the tractor?" And she'd grab it.
Of course my house is not baby proof. I've got way too much cool stuff just laying around asking to be man-handled. She found this pic of her mommy. I thought it was so sweet how she carried it around. She would say, "mommy, mommy..."
Then the loyal & faithful steeds were up in the window. Madelyn likes animals - as long as they stay a safe distance away. If they get too close or try to rub here - she.is.over.it.
They needed to be fed - so I put her little coat on her & we went outside. Sparky wasn't real sure about her.
But Sonny was too hungry to care about that little person standing next to him. (Disclaimer - I DID have her hood up on her head when we went out - SHE kept pushing it back off her head.)
