Vaca day 1 - shop 'till you drop!

I am on vacation this week! And it couldn't have come at a better time. I know we all get this way - but I am completely frustrated at work. Not with the job I do - 'cuz I love what I do. The problem is the way management treats me & the way rules (or lack thereof) are enforced.
Ok-enough of that - now on to the fun stuff! Even though I didn't have anywhere to go for this vaca-I have something to do everyday. And since I get in trouble when I don't post enough :), I will try to keep you updated!
I told ya'll about the new tv & needing a new entertainment center. So on my first day of vaca-Brad took off work early & we went shopping! I can't think of a better way to start!
I wanted to be able to go to several different stores to shop around for prices & styles. We were also looking for a new couch. Our pleather sofas are about 7 years old. The pleather has rips & just looks bad. On a day-to-day basis, I don't care how they look 'cuz it's just us - but it is a tad embarassing when we have guests. We also have limited space due to the layout of the house - so this time we decided to get a full size sofa & 2 recliners.
We started at Furniture Row in Clarksville. They had an entertainment center I liked, but sofas were another story. We like our sofa to recline & really the only one they had that reclined was a power recliner. Brad loved it-but all I could think was, "Uh-what happens when that little electric motor goes out?" We left there & went to Value City Furniture. They had no entertainment centers we could use. Our house is trimmed in the light oak color - so I try to keep things that color. Everything "in" right now is that dark wood... They had a sofa & recliner we liked - but the color was strange. In the store it looked like a dark gray. We wanted the chocolate brown color. So off to Ashley Furniture we went.
And we found a couch I fell in love with. Brad kept saying it felt like a towel - & it kinda did. The fabric is some kind of polyester. The salesman told us they are making car seats out of it now. PLUS, the fabric doesn't allow pet hair to penetrate it. The hairs lay on TOP of the fabric & you can just brush them off. Plus, he said that if you have cats - their claws can't penetrate the fabric? Whaaaa? Is it magic fabric?
Since the recliners are going to be for B-rad, he had to assume the natural position he watches tv in to see if it felt ok.
Ta-da! Here she is! Plus it comes with 2 free pillows. I'm sure pillows aren't that much money, but I just love getting stuff for "free"!
Ashley really didn't have any entertainment centers I liked either, so we went back over to where we started at Oak Express. This is the entertainment center we're getting. I know the bottom looks funny 'cuz one side is glass & one is solid - but it comes with both panels & you can choose if you want glass in both or solid. I'm sure I'll choose solid so I can hide more junk.
Next on the vaca agenda - I will be baking for our gift exchange at work. You may be asking yourself, "isn't she on vaca from work?!" Yes, I am-but the girls at work do a gift exchange & we bake treats & eat! So I do have to run to work tomorrow, but just for a little while. And I won't be doing any work -so that's ok with me!

Don't you just love getting new furniture??? If I had the money to justify it, ( I mean big bucks)I would buy new living room stuff every year! :)
