Out with the old - in with the new

So let me tell ya a story. It's about a boy & his grandpa - well, it's really about his grandpa's tv...
We had an entertainment center. And I liked it. It was big & beautiful & had lotsa places to hide junk, er -I mean - store stuff. We had a perfectly lovely tv that was HD & did it's job just fine.
Brad's grandpa was a tv enthusiast himself. He bought a top of the line (well, top of the line of its day) tv & Brad would swoon over it when we visited them in Florida. It is a 52" projection kinda tv. It's almost as tall as me. It is a country unto itself....
Brad's grandpa passed away - & grandma didn't want that big ole tv anymore. So she offered it up to the grandkids. And Brad jumped at the chance to take it. I, however, wasn't so jumpy about it. I mean, what about my wonderful entertainment center? The tv that is a country unto itself would not fit in my entertainment center. So we argued, er I mean, discussed it & he says to me, "But Jaime, it's Grandpa's tv...". To which I replied, "How can I argue with a dead grandpa's tv?!" Don't judge me...
Brad's parents wrapped it up all nice & cozy & hauled it up here from Florida this past winter. I spent one whole afternoon unloading all the junk from the entertainment center & it got shipped off to my mom & dad's. My loss is their gain...sniff, sniff.
So the country unto itself has been sitting in my living room. And I have never warmed up to it because there was no place for me to put pictures or candles or anything on it. PLUS - we have like 50 gazillion "things" to enhace our tv watching experience (dvd player, input selector thingie, dish receiver, stereo...) & there was no good place to put them. But ya'll know I'm a giver so I sucked it up. THEN, my hubby who guilt tripped me into grandpa's tv says one day, "What do you think about getting a new tv? Ya know, like one of those flat screen ones?". Uhhh - let's all just take a step back for a second. No one panic...
So of course I had to harrass & taunt him by saying, "Ohhh noooo! Grandpa's tv, grandpa's tv. All I heard from you for days was 'grandpa's tv'". (did ya'll expect any less?!) He explained to me that he thought it was a little further advanced than it really was... mmmm hmmmm, likely excuse.
Thus starts the quest looking for a new tv. (Of course, I'm ok with that because then I'll be able to have an entertainment center that has shelves & cabinets with doors - oh-be still my heart!). So to make a long story short - uh, yeah, I'm all about that... we got a new tv last night...
And Brad is like a kid on Christmas morning when we get new electronics. He can't wait to take everything out & hook it all up. And of course, I don't give a crap so while he hooked it all up - I went to bed. When I woke up this morning - my house looked like a bomb had went off.
There were boxes, styrofoam thingies, plastic baggies & bread tie thingies everywhere. We also ended up getting a new stereo system & it is sa-weet 'cuz the radio thingie is a blu-ray player. So that means we will have 1 less "thing" to go in my new entertainment center.

Also good news - when you take away a few components, you get to get rid of some of the wiring for them. The new tv is sitting on the coffee table right now until we go look at entertainment centers. This is the rats nest of wires that Brad was able to get rid of.
Of course, I can't divulge exactly what we purchased. I've probably already said too much... ya'll know how we have a problem with losers & low lifes coming un-invited into our home & taking our stuff...
