Current events

Harvest has started so if you're looking for B-rad, he can be found somewhere in a field in the combine.  It's all harvest - all the time around here, people.  He combined beans at our house a few weeks ago.
The dust trail behind him tells you three things:
#1-we needed rain in a BAD kind of way.
#2-THIS is the reason I am in allergy hell.  Sinus pressure, watery eyes w/ all kinds of gross stuff coming out of them. Good times...
#3-Wild Kingdom is still alive & kicking.

Mom, Butterfly & I went to Derby Dinner playhouse a few weeks ago.  I had never been before & it was 'ok'.  I didn't realize how long it would take by the time you eat, wait for the play, then intermission, then the second act.  It was about 4 hours total.
I told ya'll Butterfly & Rhonda broke up & SHOCKER ALERT he already has another girlfriend.  I had hoped he would take some time to be single {because he has some issues he needs to work on in my 'be it ever so humble opinion'...}.  Plus he just bought a house & it needs some things done to it so that would totally fill his time - but no one cares what I think.  She also came to the play & that was the first time I met her.  She was as nice as a gal can be meeting someone's sister for the first time - but I still stand by my 'he needed to stay single for a while' opinion.

We had family pics w/ my family taken a few weeks ago.  (Can you tell I've not been in the blogging spirit?  Everything happened 'a few weeks ago'...)

And because everyone loves a flash back -
here are Butterfly & I circa 1978...
& here we are now...
B-rad said, 'Oh great - we're going to be like floating heads w/ black tops & a black background.'  How was I to know there would be a black background?
Black is slimming, B-rad  - that's all that matters...
I knew Mom was gonna wear red & I don't really have anything that goes w/ or compliments red...except BLACK.  Butterfly called to ask what we were wearing & I said I was doing black & I wasn't sure about B-rad - he was gonna wear grey or black.   Butterfly said he was going to do grey so I decided to put B-rad in black.
SUE ME.
But he's kinda right about the floating heads....whoopsie.
 So here's a funny story---when the lady was taking our pictures she said things to me like, 'oh - you're so photogenic!' (To which I said, "Thank you!  {B-rad - DID YOU HEAR THAT?"}) & after we had picked out our pics she told me I was beautiful & gave me a hug & I was like, "Oh my - THANK YOU! B-RAD DID YOU HEAR THAT?")   {Stick w/ me - I promise I'm not bragging about someone saying I was beautiful....}

B-rad & I stopped to grab some dinner after pictures & I noticed a little girl sitting near us kept looking at me.
NO-I wasn't being loud and/or obnoxious...
Then I would notice the ladies she was with were looking at me too.
Ok - maybe I WAS being loud and/or obnoxious?  I didn't think I was...

When they walked past our table one of the ladies stopped & said, 'I just have to tell you - my granddaughter thinks you are beautiful!'  Of course I turned 15 shades of red & said, "OHHHH thank you SO much!  That's so sweet of her!".  She said, 'Yes, she just kept saying 'look at that lady, grandma - she's so pretty!''
After my face shade turned back to a normal color I said to B-rad, "You know what this means, right?  I have to wear a full face of makeup ALL the time..."

And now to prove to you I wasn't bragging about being beautiful, I'll show you something very un-beautiful....
I noticed a couple of weeks ago (there I go again) when I got my hair cut that I have some weird dark splotches on my face - BOTH sides of my face...  The lighting at the hair salon is BRUTAL, people.  I don't wear much make up on a daily basis...eyeliner, mascara & loose powder.   (not like family pics when I really went all out - eye shadow, mascara, FOUNDATION...)
I don't know if it's from being in the sun so much this summer or if they are...uhm... er...gulp -
AGE SPOTS?????
(OH THE HUMANITY.)
But I hate them & have now become self conscious about them.  A friend of mine sells Nerium & she is letting me try it to see if it helps.  I am using it at night only & after 2 weeks I don't know if I see improvement or not?  You guys tell me what you think.
(And NO I didn't get a quick tan...it's all about lighting, people.  I was getting ready to walk in the pic on the right & it was an overcast {& windy!} day.)

If the Nerium can't help me, my next plan is to cut my face off...

Shauna & I were supposed to see Luke Bryan's 'farm tour' in Lexington last week.  It was REALLY cool that day & spitting rain so we had blankets & sweatshirts w/ us.  We even stopped at a Wal-mart to buy gloves, ponchos & toe warmers.  We were ALMOST to the location & we saw a sign that it was cancelled & I was like, "What the F***!?"
I said, "They didn't send me an email!!!!" as I hurriedly opened my email...
2 hours before they had sent a cancellation email.  Apparently they couldn't construct the stage because the field was too wet. (The 'farm tour' is held in fields all over the Midwest...)
They had re-scheduled it for the next Tuesday night, but Shauna had to work.  We stopped at the Simpsonville outlet mall (UHM it seemed like the most logical thing to do!) & got to talking about someone about the cancelled show.  He didn't want them (trust me I TRIED to get him to buy them!) but he said we should definitely ask around the mall.  We asked a LOT of people if they wanted to buy them & we weren't trying to get rich, people.  I had the tickets & parking pass w/ me & I had the e-mail receipt showing what we paid.  We paid $117.50 for 2 tickets & parking pass.  I offered everyone $100 for the whole sch-bang & no one bit.

I told the really, really, really short version of this on Facebook but you know my stories are never short.  Here are all the details of what went down next.
(Lucky you...)
We walked into a store & ran into a young couple w/ a itty bitty teeny tiny baby.  Shauna started talking about the baby (ya'll know the powers babies have have no hold on me...) & then she said, 'Do you guys like Luke Bryan?'  They kind of looked at each other & said, 'Yea - we were going to go see him tonight but we couldn't find tickets.' & we were like, "Oh- we have tickets!"  I told them what we paid & that we would take $100 for them.  They kind of looked at each & were like,  'Oh, I don't know...'  I said, "Look - we aren't trying to get rich here, we just want someone to be able to use the tickets because we can't.  What about $90?"  They kind of looked at each other so I said, "You wanna think about it for a few minutes & let us know?"  They agreed to that & said to each other, 'it can't be a coincidence we ran into them...'

About 10 minutes later they guy found us in the store.  He said, 'the ATM wouldn't let me take out $90 - will you take $80?'  I decided for the both of us, "Yes we will!"   (I figured that was better than nothing or trying to sell them on Facebook & messing w/ that.  Plus they were really nice people.!)
Then he started talking about how he had wanted to take his wife to see Luke Bryan back in February when he was in Louisville but he was gone so they couldn't go.  He said he had looked for tickets that morning but they were sold out so he knew it wasn't a coincidence they ran into us.
And what he said struck me as odd... he was 'gone'.  He didn't say 'out of town', or 'away for work' so I asked him, "Are you in the military?"
He said, 'Yes.'
I said, "So you were deployed then?"
'Yes.'
I immediately got cold chills & tears in my eyes as I grabbed the tickets out of my purse.  Shauna & I both thanked him for his service & gave him our best wishes that they had a great time at the concert!
I love it when stuff works out like that!

Ya'll know I like to change my purses, phone cases phone background around a lot.  The app I have on my found had one that had purple flowers AND a frame for my clock.  I mean, what's NOT to love?
And I got to thinking - surely if I found one background w/ a frame there's gotta be an app out there w/ more choices?
I was right & this is my latest creation (for now).  You can mix & match different backgrounds & different kinds of frames.  This is the one I settled on (for now).
Who doesn't love a bright, cheery lock screen to greet you??
I liked the background so much I made it my MacBook desktop as well.  Because of the wonder that IS photo streaming it pushed from my phone to my MacBook - I turned it on it's side & VOILA - I have a bright, cheery desktop for my MacBook as well...
