Hawaii will have to wait just a bit longer

Sooo let me tell you about my life this past week:
Wake up, go to work, be up to my eyeballs in paperwork, leave work, go let my brothers dogs out (they live with mom & dad & since they've not been there, I have to do it.  Wondering why I have to let out HIS dogs?  Yea-me too...don't get me started...), go to the hospital to visit dad, stop & get something to eat, get home around 8:30, do one load of laundry & go to bed.  Sigh....

You may notice that there's no section in there 'go through Hawaii pics to blow the socks of stalkers.' Hmph.
I AM making progress though... I've got the 908 pics we took off the 2 cameras & loaded onto my computer.  I've got them all named.  Now, the hard part - picking out the ones I can use to weave the kind of story I weave...

I wanted to tell you guys SOMETHING & since I share everything with you - I'll tell you about dad.  I know some of you have been wondering how he's doing.

First-here's what happend:  He was crossing the street at a 4 way stop.  The guy sitting in the lane motioned him across.  Anothe vehicle turning left didn't see him & hit him.  Dad knows the guy that hit him (uhm, dad knows everyone...) & the guy DID stop.  Someone called 911 & the ambulance came & took him to Floyd Co.

When I got to the ER, they had his left leg stabilized.  He had not seen a surgeon yet, but we knew he needed surgery.
His right knee had 2 big abrasions that were swollen up like goose eggs.
This was the day after his surgery.  He looks pretty pitiful...
He left the hospital on Thursday & went straight to Southern Indiana Rehab.  They are doing therapy with him & we haven't heard yet how long he will be there.  He can't bear weight on his left side because of the broken finger on his left hand.

I guess they had him pretty hopped up on pain meds because he was confused sometimes.  He kept telling mom & I to get him stuff.  Like he was at home.  Mom would say, "You're not at home...you're in the hospital..."  He would say, "Oh yea...I forgot..."  My dad has a booming voice & he just wasn't the same.  He sounded groggy & not himself.  (Interestingly enough...he is in politics in our area...he was pretty clear about that crap the whole time...he's up for re-election in November & he's super worried about who is going to campaign for him.  Sheesh...)

I went to visit with him yesterday & it was the first day he looked & sounded more like himself.   Progress, I guess... My dad is not patient & pretty hard headed (like I said-not like me at all...) & I HOPE he listens & pays attention to the therapists so he can get back on his feet.  He controls his diabetes with walking.

Thanks for being patient with me.  Today I have done nothing but do laundry...& catch up on the dvr.  I have TONS of stuff to watch.  B-rad is in the field non-stop & late into the night combining.  One of these days...we'll be able to come up for air...

I'm glad that you do share everything with us. :-) Hope your dad recovers fast. That really does suck for him, and I know it's tiring taking care of someone. We will patiently wait for Hawaii....;-)
