We were finally able to make it to the lake for the first time this summer. B-rad loves to go to the lake. He gets to do all kinds of stuff he can't do at home...
I didn't feel like watching him & Brady have their faces stuck in their phones so I walked over to Brian & Lora's boat. Derik was getting ready to fish. Derik always fishes. Constantly fishes. Never stops fishing. See a pattern here? Cole thought he'd be funny & try to scare me with a worm. It worked. I was a total girl & shrieked & ran...
On Saturday, B-rad & Brady were going to swim. B-rad had brought his little video camera he uses on his motorcycle. He bought a waterproof case for it.
And they all were loving the camera. B-rad went down the slide...
Then he taped Brady sliding...
I just wanted to sit & spend some time with Edward... I'm reading Breaking Dawn again to have it fresh in my mind for the new movie. Alas, these boys are loud & obnoxious. "Watch this!" "Did you see THAT?!" & a girl just can't get any reading done.
B-rad had a death grip on that camera... the case is waterproof...but it doesn't make it float...
A shot of Derik jumping off the top of the boat while B-rad stands on the deck...
They were like moths to a flame...
Let's see how it looks from this angle...
Lora & I were watching them swim. I told her we had to watch what we said because that camera could pick up our voices....so you know I barely spoke. Sigh...
Then I felt something gross on my leg. Brady took a tiny tomato & squeezed it on my leg. Gag. I hate tomatoes. Brat...
Ok-so insert going out on the lake to ski here. Let me tell you about that. I didn't even take my camera. Didn't even feel like it. B-rad took his new camera toy so we could tape them skiing. It has a suction cup on it but my job was to 'make sure it doesn't fall off the boat!'. I told Lora that B-rad must wanna be the next Steven Spielberg...
I was sitting on the front deck after supper spending time with Edward. But I also like to listen to music. "B-rad, will you see if these speakers out here work so I can listen to music?" "Sure, in a little bit." Hmph.
Cole went fishing & he got a nice size fish. He did NOT wanna touch it though! Like I have said before, Derik LOVES to fish. And he doesn't like it when other people fish & catch stuff & he doesn't. He wasn't around when Cole caught his fish so when he came back to the boats someone said, "Oh, Derik - Cole caught a fish!" Derik immediately responsds, "NU-UH!" I said, "I have a picture!" Then he wanted to know if it was 'bigger' than the one he had caught? Someone said, "No." Then he saw the picture. And Derik's exact words were, "Thank God." He cracks me up.
Ok-this is perhaps the most exciting news of the whole weekend. This dude walked by the boats on the dock holding the cutest little beagle puppy. And since there is some un-written rule that McAfee's have to talk to every.single.person that walks by the boat, someone started a conversation with the guy. Turns out he raises them & he was going to start giving them away next week after their last round of shots. One thing led to another & Brian & Lora & the kids are the proud new owners of this cutie patootie!
I must tell you, he is one of the cutest little things I have ever seen. I kept saying before they decided to take him home, "Just remember-he's a cute baby NOW... he WILL grow up to be like them (as I pointed at the kids)..."
Everybody wanted their picture with the new puppy.
And the poor puppy was just exhausted from all the attention...
and since we wouldn't let Cole hold him while he slept, Cole decided to lay beside him because 'he was tired too...'
The new little guys name is Turbo. You don't wanna know how they came up with that. Actually it may have been B-rad. B-rad's names for pets depends on the hobbies he has at the time. His cat was Beavis. Wonder what tv show he was into at the time? We had a cat named Taz after his go-kart.
THEN he decided that he wanted ME to hold the camera while he was skiing. THEN I messed it up just a teeny tiny bit & he kept asking me, "What are you doing? What are you doing?!" Uhm, nothing B-rad...I got this... (Then Lora said, 'look like he wants YOU to be Steven Spielberg...) so I said ACTION! & off we went...
I had asked my wonderfully technological genius of a hubby to see if he could hook my ipod up to his parents tv so I could listen to music. UHM, that's why I keep him around. Wellllllll, when he saw there were usb ports in the back of tv, I heard him exclaim, "SWEET!" & I said, "Oh, it will work with my ipod?!" He said, "I don't know...but it WILL work with my camera!!!" Sigh... So when we got back from skiing, the boys had to watch all their videos from the day. Seriously....I should've taken a picture of them all surrounding the tv watching themselves while Lora was making supper.
So I told you in our last blog off how I love me some potatoes, right? Lora makes some potatoes that are the best.potatoes.ever. I don't know what they're called but I call them cheesy potatoes. When we go to the lake I LOVE for her to make them. Potatoes, cheese, garlic, onions & butter. Lots & lots of butter. Be.still.my.heart.
I was sitting in silence & then I heard music! And I ran inside. And guess who had figured out how to play music? B-rad? Pssssh, shut your mouth! NO! Brady! I was so excited! As I hugged & kissed all over Brady & told him he was my new best friend & favorite nephew B-rad decided to perk up a bit. "I was gonna look at that for you." Mmm hmm, B-rad...mmm hmm...
And since B-rad's conditioned me to never be happy with what I have, I wanted them to see if my ipod would hook up to it. And B-rad decided he'd try to help little ole Brady with that. Alas, the radio is too old, BUT Brady had an fm transmitter thingie we hooked my phone to & then it played through the radio. Oh, happy day...
They kicked around 'Casey' for the Case tractor. But then I heard, 'What about Turbo after the Turbo till?!' (The turbo till is a piece of equipment they use on the farm...) And Brady like Turbo, but Cole wanted Casey. B-rad like Turbo & I delicately reminded him, "UHM it's not our dog!" There were a lot of, "C'mere, Casey" & "No, c'mere, Turbo" to see which one he'd answer too. It was quite funny because the dog is 10 weeks old. He just runs around with his tail wagging for whatever...
