March for Babies

Eric, Erin, Madelyn, Payton, Lora & I went over to Louisville Slugger field today for the March for Babies. We had a 2.5 mile walk from the field, over the 2nd street bridge & back. Our team did AWESOME & raised $1090!!! We are definately blessed to have people in our lives that supported us!
It was pretty cool this morning when we headed out. Madelyn was sportin' a hat. She has more hair than Eric & I thought it was funny when he told Erin, "Put a hat on her. My head is even cold!" They had white & purple balloons they were handing out. I, of course, picked purple...duh. We all also got purple t-shirts which I was pretty psyched about.
Madelyn's not reel keen on the animal people thing. Buddy the Bat was walking around near her & she kept a close eye on him...and us...
This is how Payton does a walk. My kind of girl...
Before the race started they had a dude play the call to the post & 'My Old Kentucky Home'. It was cold - we just wanted to start walkin'.
And we're off!
Madelyn was getting bored. So she leaned out to touch the wheel.
We walked right next to the new arena, er - I mean YUM CENTER. It was so close I could've thrown a rock & hit it. Then I probably would've been locked in Louisville Cardinal jail for treason or something.
The river is still up from all the rain, so it was really ucky looking! And today it looked a little like the ocean because of all the wind it was really moving!
We had a chilly & windy walk over the bridge! Erin told me she mailed a thank you note to Kosairs with a pic of Payton inside. Looks like her mama raised her right...Bad hair day.
Like I said, Madelyn was getting bored. So Grammy tried to hold her hand to take her mind off of getting out of her stroller.
And we're all suckers for Madelyn, so Lora got her out of the stroller. And she got pretty heavy so Eric took over & let her ride on his shoulders.
On our way back across the bridge.
Madelyn didn't mind the Wendy's frosty too much. She kinda shook it's hand, but that was it. No waving, no talking. Just business.
Family pic after the walk.
Here we all are after the walk in line for what we thought was Chick-fil-a. I politely asked a lady in line in front of us to take our pic. Notice 2 things. #1-the background is really blurry & we are kinda blurry. #2-Madelyn is missing. I assure you, she was in the stroller but the lady cut her out. Apparently she doesn't realize the importance of family memories...or a blog. Hmph... So I told you they were supposed to have 'fun' activities. Welllll, they did have a lot of free food there in the morning when we got there. Oatmeal, biscuits & gravy, breakfast burritos, danishes, fruit & Krispy Kremes. When we got back we saw a tent for Chick-fil-a & we were like, "SWEET! We get to eat Chick-fil-a for lunch!" But the joke was on us after we stood in line & got up to the table - it was a 'spin the wheel' & win a coupon thing. I got a free drink. Which was really for a free coffee ONLY good at the ones in the East end of Louisville. Double hmph...
The Chick-fil-a lady gave the girls hats. Payton's didn't stay on her head.
Back to the 'fun' activities. Not so fun. All they had were some inflatable thingies outside & a stage up front where they were doing some "Zumba" stuff. Zumba is just another kind of dancing exercise & I wasn't about to cheat on Jazzercise. (And that Zumba stuff is expensive! We got a flyer for it. It's $50 for unlimited classes a month. And that may be a special with that flyer, I don't know. And once again, it's in the East End...)
Since there wasn't any place for Madelyn to play inside because of all the people, we went outside. We were still inside Slugger field & it was still cool so Lora suggested we go sit down in the sun. So we went & sat right behind home plate. We figured it would be the only time we'd get to sit in seats like that.
Erin & Payton.
We had a great walk, a great time together & we even helped babies that will be born in the future to be born healthy! Thank you SO much for allowing me to be on your team! Can't wait till next year!
