First, I must say I am uber disappointed in myself that I couldn't think of a better title than "Entertainment Center". How boring! I'm gonna have to get back on my game!
Anywho I mentioned the other day that we got the entertainment center. It was a major job putting it together & boy - it really wore me out... (Uh- this is funny because I did basically nothing to put it together - but watch Brad...)
And it came in 5 boxes. And each piece in each box was surrounded by styrofoam. And then it was wrapped in that white soft lookin' stuff. THEN it had pieces of styrofoam on the corners. While yes - this is nice to keep it wrapped to protect it - it was a b-i-t-c-h for my living room & dining room.
The styrofoam was so flimsy it would break at just a touch. So I have lotsa little styrofoam droppings all over my house.
When we got home with it Monday night - it was kinda late - but we're like kids with new toys. We just HAD to put it together. Until we realized how much work (for Brad) was gonna be involved. So this is how far we got with it. And this is how it looked until last night.
Installing the lights on one of the cabinets.
Sonny said, "Hey - what'cha gonna do with this cool brown box?"
And Sparky laid on Brad's slippers. See - it was hard work on us all.
Trying to level it was not easy either - or so I gathered. He kept screwing & unscrewing all the little thingies to get it just right. This is why Brad is good for me. 'Cuz I'm impatient. I'd throw it against the wall & say, "Eh- looks good to me!" He is meticulous. He says, "there's no sense in doing it if you're not going to do it right." Different strokes for different folks...
We had to take the tv off the stand to get the shelf above it installed. Trust me, we tried to do a few things while it was still on the stand. That was just an accident waiting to happen.
Here it is in all its glory. I told ya it's huge! I was throwing all my crap on it last night like a mad woman. The two panels on the cabinet under the tv can be changed to glass. I think I might (have Brad) do that.
Of course, there's one more thing to go on top. (Well, after I have a friend from work go with me to buy some flowers or somethin' for the top... I'm not good at that kinda stuff, either...) I got Brad a model of a Case tractor a few years ago for Christmas. Then he saw a model of a planter like ours at my work one year & then he just HAD to have one. He asked for one this year for Christmas & I was able to get one for him. This thing is freakin' heavy, too. It's 3' long & it has moving parts. It pivots just like our planter & the marker arms work & everything. Brad said I was not allowed to put it on top of the entertaiment center. So I just put it on the floor to take this pic.
See the resemblence?!
