We had tickets to see the Heart/Journey concert at the fair Friday night. We ate dinner at Tumbleweed at Highlander Point and by 7:10, we were on our way (it started at 8:00). Some of you may not know this, but I'm ultra nutso about being early or on time. When we go to a movie, I like to be in the theatre no later than 15 minutes before the movie starts. Call me crazy, I don't care... So I wanted to have my happy bootie in the seat (our seats were on the floor) no later than 7:40pm. Plenty of time right? Uh, wrong.
There was SO much traffic going into the fairgrounds. We sat & sat... & the more we sat, the madder I got. I mean, sure I like Journey, but I heart Heart! Then it became clear we were NOT gonna get to see all of the concert. "Even tempered" Brad was getting pissed too. I cannot tell you how frustrating it was! I was twittering like a maniac I was so mad! I even called Carrie to get Louisville Metro Police Departments phone number to call & yell at them that they needed to be directing traffic. I did call. They were closed. Go figure. They were probably all at the fair.
If this doesn't prove how long we sat in traffic, nothing does. No, this isn't Brad....it was a dude in the vehicle in front of us. I never dreamed trafffic would be that bad!
We sat for an hour & a half.
After we finally paid to park, we had to drive all the way around the stadium to even find a parking spot. So then we had to walk a gazillion miles to get there.
Then we had to pee. Brad went into the men's bathroom & I saw girls going in there too...I should've known that wasn't a good sign. When I got to the women's restroom, the line was UN-BELIVEABLY long. Like so long that I told Brad, "C'mon, I hear Heart on stage, I'm not waiting in line!". See we ran to our seats. It was 9:00. We saw Heart sing 1 song. Magic Man.
Brad obviously wasn't as distraught about missing Heart as I was.

Hey Jamie, it's Kim Lewis (your Premier buddy- ha ha). I hate to hear you missed Heart! They were amazing and actually played for an hour. We were at the concert as well and it took us 55 minutes to get out of the parking lot they stuck us is. It was crazy!! My husband, Steve who used to deliver cleaning supplies to the fairgrounds even called the fair board and they said they were aware of the situation and were on top of it. What??? When we finally got out of our lot onto ring road, there were no police or anyone around directing traffic. Now, if there was a UofL ballgame, I'm sure it would have been much different........
how fun! i wish we would have gone with you guys!! i am so sorry you missed hear though! so sad!!
